South Carolina Aquarium {Joanne + Seth}

Hopefully, you caught Joanne's timeless bridal session this morning and have been anxiously anticipating her gorgeous South Carolina Aquarium wedding ever since!  The couple married this past October and incorporated a few of my favorite Charleston wedding venues into their big ol' Lowcountry affair!  Joanne + Seth + crew prepped for the evening at the charming Meeting Street Inn before heading over to the parade deck at the Citadel to catch a few shots.  They then said 'I do' in a romantic evening ceremony at the Summerall Chapel.  The celebration continued at the South Carolina Aquarium where guests enjoyed Lowcountry cuisine from Hamby Catering & Events!

Pelican Watch Shelter {Melissa + Steven}

If you're planning a destination wedding in the Lowcountry and are looking for low-key venue by the beach, then Melissa + Steven's Charleston wedding will be right up your alley!  The couple selected the Pelican Watch Shelter to host their reception and it was the perfect location for their Folly Beach affair.  Guests were treated to a beautiful, coastal reception of yellows and coral designed by Charleston Wedding Design and Lowcountry cuisine from Hamby Catering and Events.  They joined Richard Bell Photography on the beach after the reception for photos and even though it was high tide, it was sure worth it!

Charleston Wedding {Jess + James}

It's so easy to get caught up in the fabulous-ness of pinterest, magazines and blogs when planning your Charleston wedding.  They're all brimming with luscious details and tons of ideas but it's important to stay true to yourself and make sure your wedding truly reflects you as couple.  When I first laid eyes on Jess + James' Charleston wedding, my first thought was, 'These two did it right!'  Mackenzie, of The Click Chick Photography, was on hand to capture the entire day and was kind enough to share all the darling details...

"A taco truck, a historic synagogue, and pie, oh my! Jess & James wedding at the historic Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim was a true Charleston original. The location in downtown Charleston, SC lies in between King and Meeting Streets right across from posh Charleston Place hotel. The Taco Boy food truck greeted guests as they arrived to Passed Hors d'Oeurves by Hamby Catering in the courtyard of KKBE pre-ceremony. A traditional Jewish ceremony followed, with both Jess & James escorted down the aisle by their parents to the chuppah, which was made from a family quilt. Jess wore a silk J.Crew fucshia dress for the ceremony that was accented by a custom fascinator by Magar Hatworks. Post-ceremony the couple enjoyed some tacos privately during the yichud tradition, the Jess made a wardrobe change into another J.Crew stunner, this time in melon chiffon. Beer and margaritas flowed during the reception to compliment the three types of tacos and chips and guac. The cheery tables were decorated with 'stache-graced straws, flowers made from maps (a nod to James's travels in the Navy- he also wore custom cuff links and tie clips bearing a map of Charleston), billy buttons in pink and melon-hued glass jars, and challah. Sugar Bakeshop filled the dessert table not with wedding cake, but pies of every flavor and cookie jars filled with yummy flavors like molasses and oatmeal cranberry. Jess & James' wedding was the perfect going away party for their move to Hawaii, and summed up their personality as a couple to a tee."

Island House Wedding {Ellen + Bryan}

The Lowcountry is all about the water, so it's no surprise that brides and grooms flock to many of the area's wedding venues that highlight the region's most-prized possession and today's couple, Ellen + Bryan is no different!  They took full advantage of the Island House's prime location on the banks of the Stono River when planning their late, Spring nuptials.  They started with a low-key, outdoor ceremony before treating their guests to a lively, Charleston reception by the water!  Guests were treated to Lowcountry cuisines from Hamby Catering including tasty ham biscuits and a to die for Shrimp and Grits bar!  With the help of Elle Courtney Events and the floral design team of O.K. Florist, the entire event featured a preppy, Southern color palette of navy and pink.  As always, thanks to the oh-so-talented team of Richard Bell Photography for capturing this gorgeous, Southern wedding and that beautiful, Charleston sunset.

Erica + Toby {Charleston National Golf Club Wedding}

I've been slaving away this week as I work on adding a whole new vendor section to A Lowcountry Wedding (keep your eyes peeled, it will be launching at the beginning of July!), so needless to say, I'm really looking forward to taking it easy this weekend!  So, to kick off this gorgeous Lowcountry weekend, we're sharing a touching, Charleston National Golf Club affair from the crew at Richard Bell Photography, that was coordinated by Charleston Wedding Design.  The beautiful Bride, Erica, walked down the aisle to the sounds of Charleston Virtuosi before meeting her Groom at the altar to say 'I do' in front of their closest friends and family.  Thanks to the sweet couple for giving us a peek inside their fairytale wedding... "We feel our story is unique and our relationship has transcended an ocean, time zones and united two cultures. This has been a huge commitment of love, time, patience and unswerving determination to be together. The trials and tribulations of our relationship together with our faith have been a stern test, which we're certain will help our marriage stand the test of time. Erica and I have become passionate travelers (we've had to because we are from different countries!) and we've weaved our love of travel into the fabric of our wedding. Each table is personalized to represent an important milestone in our relationship. Bahamas - our first holiday together, London, England and Westerville, Ohio - our hometowns, Las Vegas - where we met and our journey together began, San Francisco - our future home and of course Charleston - where we fell in love and will be married. We have a vision for our wedding which is to make it feel personal and each small detail is important to us. We will have strings to play Vivaldi four seasons, which we listened to in an outdoor concert in Somerset, England on Erica's first visit to the UK. Our Wedding colors of purple and green are inspired by Wimbledon (Toby's town of birth), where we were fortunate enough to spend a day at the Championships in 2011. We will be sipping on PIMM'S at our cocktail hour, which is a popular English cocktail filled with fresh fruits perfect for a springtime affair. At the end of the night a black cab will be driving us from the reception, which we think is fitting because we currently live in London and regularly use these cabs to get around. Charleston National Golf course is a fitting location for our Wedding as Erica's father, Ken, who sadly passed away in February 2011 was a keen golfer. He would of been delighted to have known that the happiest day of his daughters life would be spent in the beautiful setting, one which brought him so much joy in his life."
