We spent Sunday morning over on Botany Bay, and I'm still recovering from the super cute sunburn I acquired :)  In honor of the gorgeous springtime weather and the countless weekends we'll be spending at the beach, I thought we'd enjoy a lovely Beaufort wedding engagement from the talented Lowcountry wedding photographer, Katherine Herndon Photography.  We're obsessed with the perfect coastal setting, driftwood backdrop and Allison's adorable polka dot dress.

When the talented Stefanie of sMm Photography sent over this dreamy South Carolina session drenched in natural light, I knew it had to grace the pages of A Lowcountry Wedding.  I mean, who doesn't love when a bride-to-be includes her beloved animal?  But when I read the sweet story, I fell even more in love (if that's even possible!).  The lovely Kate rescued her sweet horse Penny right before her wedding in June but wanted to wait to do her bridal portraits until she had time to rehabilitate her, and we're so glad she did!

South Carolina Wedding Engagement {Leah + Jeff}

The minute I laid eyes on this South Carolina wedding engagement I KNEW that my ALW ladies had to have it.  It's charming and eye-catching and makes me wish I could Photoshop my husband and I right into Leah + Jeff's shoes.  Not because the engaged duo doesn't look adorable (because they do!) but because I love this shoot so much I wish I could frame each picture and hang them all around my house.  I'm obsessed...and who wouldn't be with all of those vibrant hot air balloons in the background!  So, I asked the photographer who captured the loveliness, the talented Jenna Marie Weddings, if she would be so kind as to let us share it with our readers in the premier issue of A Lowcountry Wedding and she was more than happy to oblige!  Catch a glimpse at few shots below and  if you're dying to see more...check out all the details in our complete digital edition of A Lowcountry Wedding Mag which you can purchase here!

Lowcountry Wedding {Margaret + Jesus}

Margaret & Jesus married on June 22, 2013 under large majestic oaks on the coast of South Carolina. The couple lives in DC and wanted an intimate southern destination wedding, and Lord knows that's exactly what they got when they ventured to the Lowcountry! The overall vibe was natural, beautiful and elegant. Margaret was breathtaking in a stunning Vera Wang wedding gown and gold sparkly Kate Spade flats. She carried loose stems of white and yellow seasonal flowers with a pop of pink. The ceremony was lined with tin bails of sweet baby's breath flowers. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on custom built wooden tables draped with lace and beautiful flowers.

For the reception, Margaret & Jesus joined their guests in a large tent draped with cafe lighting and enjoyed local southern flair foods and seafood paella. The couple loves hot sauce so, naturally, they had to have a hot sauce bar. The Tao Reed band played well into the night. Everyone lit paper lanterns in the end and were whisked away in a vintage green car.  It was an celebration with impeccable style in a natural and elegant setting and we're so glad Donna Von Bruening was there to capture all the details!

Pelican Watch Shelter {Melissa + Steven}

If you're planning a destination wedding in the Lowcountry and are looking for low-key venue by the beach, then Melissa + Steven's Charleston wedding will be right up your alley!  The couple selected the Pelican Watch Shelter to host their reception and it was the perfect location for their Folly Beach affair.  Guests were treated to a beautiful, coastal reception of yellows and coral designed by Charleston Wedding Design and Lowcountry cuisine from Hamby Catering and Events.  They joined Richard Bell Photography on the beach after the reception for photos and even though it was high tide, it was sure worth it!

Jillian + Tim {California Wedding}

Happy Friday everyone!  Can you believe next week is February?!?  2012 is already flying by!  We've got a lot in store for you next month like...a brand spanking new blog, we'll be introducing new weekly features, a monthly update of all the fabulous wedding events taking place in Charleston hopefully a new intern (or two!), and, of course, more amazing weddings from the Lowcountry and beyond! I figured we could wrap up the week with a lively California wedding.  The weather has been far from normal this winter and  I won't lie, it's already got me daydreaming of an early summer.  Jillian + Tim's vibrant outdoor affair from Rochelle Mort Photography just puts me in summer mindset.  With the help of Sweet Memories Flowers , Jillian and her maids rocked a jazzy yellow and grey color palette accessorized with bouquets full of billy balls, dahlias and succulents.  The ladies wore dresses from Charleston based designer Lula Kate in a spunky shade of mustard.  After a beautiful ceremony, the celebration continued at the home of the bride's parents where guests were treated to 'Boomerang' cocktails (which sound fabulous) by the pool.  Perfectly executed by the team at Soiree Event Designs & Couture Floral, a stunning tented reception followed with an amazing amount of details...including an over-the-top band and a late night taco station!
