You asked for A Lowcountry Wedding Vendor section and we answered...well, we're in the process of answering :) That's right, in just a few short weeks, we'll be bringing you Charleston, Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach's most sought after wedding professionals so you can select your Lowcountry wedding vendors with complete confidence. So, keep your eyes peeled to find out who gets our stamp of approval! It's no secret that it's truly difficult for me to control my gushing when a dreamy bridal session rolls across my inbox, so I'll try to keep it short and sweet as I give you a little insight into Christen's Charleston bridal session...but no promises! Captured by the talented Carmen Ash Photography and surrounded by downtown's history, Christen started her day in front of the Cistern on the grounds of College of Charleston...which, if you've ever seen it, is absolutely stunning. She was dressed to perfection in a soft, strapless Watters gown (The Torreno Style) that she complimented with a beautiful Spring bouquet from Carolina Charm. Afterwards, they moved the party to a picturesque Lowcountry plantation to capture this glowing Southern bride in all her glory. Don't you just love all things Charleston weddings!
Lowcountry Wedding Favors
It's a question on every bride's mind...what on earth am I going to give as favors? OR should I even going to spend money on favors? Now let's be serious, we've all chunked many-a cheesy wedding favors in trash (and rightfully so!) but with all the inspiration the Lowcountry offers, there must be a handful of memorable (and useable) surcees your wedding guests can appreciate. For instance, maybe our Hilton Head brides can send their guests home with a little sweet tea for the road (Firefly, anyone?), or maybe your Charleston folks would enjoy some classic benne wafers or sweet pralines (I know I would!). What about some grits with your favorite shrimp and grits recipe for your Myrtle Beach affair? Take a look at a few of our favorites and leave us a note if you've got a local favorite we forgot!

South Carolina Engagement {Sherry + Jonathan}
Good morning, my little Southern Belles! We're going to get right to it this Monday morning with a sweet, farm engagement session from South Carolina based D'Attoma Studios. Sherry and Jonathan met several years ago when she was a manager at Abercrombie. Jonathan was genuine and funny and was always asking her to join him at parties or out with friends. He would tease her at work, picking her up over his shoulders and carrying her around the store. She laughed with him, but mainly “stuck him the dressing room” where he couldn’t cause trouble. She chose to not join him outside of work, blaming it on the companies strict policy of not fraternizing with employees. Jonathan stopped working at Abercrombie, and Sherry moved on to work in marketing and advertising. Time passed and she didn’t hear from him for awhile. Both were pursing lives and careers with different groups of people, and their paths didn’t really cross. Until one night. The phone rang, and it was him. He invited her out to eat with friends and to go watch a fight. Sherry used to do martial arts and instantly asked who was fighting. It happened to be someone she knew… and so she decided to join him that night. They didn’t skip a beat. They reminisced like long lost friends and connected as never before. From then on, they were inseparable.
Hilton Head Wedding {Anna + Alex}
You just can't go wrong by incorporating navy into your wedding color palette. It's a classic, timeless addition to any coastal, Lowcountry reception and compliments almost any color to perfection. Hilton Head Bride Anna paired navy with apple green for her preppy, Southern affair and we're loving every minute of it! Not only does her color scheme set my heart a-flutter, but her shoes are pure heaven. Thanks to talented crew from Landon Jacob Productions for capturing every, beautiful moment of this fabulous, Hilton Head soiree!
Boone Hall Plantation {Amanda}
It's no question that the Lowcountry is blessed with some of the most jaw-dropping wedding venues in the South and one that will always find it's way to the top of my venue list is Charleston's Boone Hall Plantation. It's got everything a Lowcountry bride could dream of....Spanish moss dripping from every tree, a sprawling plantation home encircled by a stunning wrought-iron fence and immaculate grounds that make for the perfect Lowcountry backdrop....I mean, the place is just magical. So, it's no surprise that Boone Hall is the venue of choice for dreamy, Charleston weddings and swoon-worthy bridal sessions. Lucky for us, the talented Chi Photography captured Southern Belle,Amanda as she posed for the camera in her airy, textured gown and sassy pink heels.
Lowcountry Wedding Inspiration
Ohhh, ladies! We're diving right into this week with a big dose of Lowcountry wedding heaven that is sure to knock your socks off. Captured by our friend Brooke Roberts Photography, this fabulous inspiration shoot highlights everything we love about this time of the year. Getting hitched by the coast lends itself well to beautiful outdoor event, whether it's your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner or an intimate shower...you just can't go wrong. With the help of Judi Watson Florals and Dutchman Designs, the team matched soft furnishings with pops of colorful accent pieces to achieve a cozy, laid back setting at The St. Simons Lighthouse and A.J. Jones Heritage Center. Aren't you loving the summery color palette of turquoise and pink? The models were outfitted in dresses from Lady in White and Snippety Do Da's topped them off with the perfect hair and make up. Possibly my favorite part? That food! Tasteful Temptations whipped up some delicious Lowcountry cuisine (and a tasty specialty drink!) perfect for a garden affair.
Dunes West Wedding {Lindsay + MacCrae}
I knew we were in for a treat when Charleston wedding photographer Kayla Jones sent over Lindsay + MacCrae's February wedding. The ceremony took place at the picturesque Isle of Palms Methodist Church (seriously, isn't it gorgeous?) followed by quite the celebration at Mount Pleasant's Dunes West. Not only did the adorable couple team up with an impressive team of vendors, their guests we're ready to have a good time...and Lindsay + MacCrae gave them just that! Did I mention they did a flash style first dance?!? Impressive, eh?

A Brand New A Lowcountry Wedding!
I'm sure most of you guys thought this day would never come for A Lowcountry Wedding (and sometimes neither did I)! But, it's finally here! Our brand, spanking new site has gone live and I couldn't be happier. It looks better than I could have ever imagined and it's all thanks to a few truly talented individuals and I just have to sing their praises...
First up, Mrs. Emily Ley. Emily is the creative mind behind A Lowcountry Wedding's fabulous branding. Emily hit it out of the park with the perfect color palette and spot-on logo and for that I have to give a HUGE, HUGE thank you!
Then, we have Sarah Kate Snyder, owner of Studio Snyder who, to put it mildly...nailed it. Sarah Kate took our perfect branding and translated it into a killer new website. It's got that laid-back, Lowcountry ease we were missing before. I'm so over-the-moon with how everything has turned out that I just can't say thank you enough!
I hope y'all love it as much as I do! We appreciate everyone's kind words and are excited about all the big surprises we have in store for you this year! Don't forget to subscribe to our RSS feed here.
Andra + Chad {Texas Engagement}
Yesterday, my sister Emma called me to tell her boyfriend had finally proposed! Yay! I'm so excited and happy for them. Being engaged is such a fun, memorable time and I, personally, can't wait for the wedding planning to begin :) So, now all I have to do is plan a trip out to Houston to see that shiny, new rock! Congrats, you two! Since the newly engaged couple resides in Texas, I thought what better way to kick off the week then with a vintage-inspired engagement session from one of my favorite Texas photographers, Love Caryn Photography. This darling couple wanted their quirky, off-beat style to shine through and with the help of Love Caryn Photography, they were able to achieved some stunningly beautiful images.
Kristen + Jonathan {Hawkesdene House Wedding}
Before we jump right in today fabulous Southern affair, we had to tell you about a new resource for all things travel in Charleston. Our friends over at the uber-luxurious Charleston Place Hotel have started up a new blog, Hidden Charleston. Whether you're a lifetime local or Lowcountry newbie, this is your guide to the most talked about dining establishments, favorite watering holes, one-of-a-kind events and all the historic hotspots. Normally, I like to write a little somethin' somethin' about the weddings that we post but I just love what Louisiana photographer Claire Elyse had to say about Kristen + Jonathan's destination wedding that I thought I'd let her share today. So, from Miss Claire Elyse herself...
"Kristen and Jonathan’s wedding was one of those where I found myself counting down the days ‘til show time! It may have been because the wedding took place in the mountains of North Carolina, or perhaps because the bride and groom brought all the best of Louisiana to meet those mountains. It was all that and more. The details of this wedding were stunning, and even the vendors were the perfect mix of fun-loving South Louisiana meets breath taking North Carolina mountain highs. Jonathan proposed to Kristen in Andrews, North Carolina, so it was only appropriate to pack up the dress, cake, family, and bar and make a vacation out of it. The Hawkesdene House was one of my favorite venues to work with. The owners matched elegance with comfort. From the flowers, to one of Zoe’s Bakery’s masterpieces, to Abita Blues playing the requests of the bride and groom mixed with their own style. Kristen dreamt an amazing day into reality."
Stripes {Wedding Decor}
We've been loving how many brides have incorporated stripes into their wedding color palettes. Stripes are the perfect preppy and coastal addition to any girl's wedding decor...and let's face it, we love all things coastal and preppy here in Charleston. We've rounded up quite a few of our favorite ways to incorporate some stripped accessories into your Lowcountry Big Day! They range from linens and invitations to bridesmaids dresses and favors...
Samantha + Scott {Pawleys Island Wedding}
Just up the road from Charleston, on the South Carolina coast, there's a little gem of town called Pawleys Island. It's the epitome of a Lowcountry lifestyle...fresh seafood, laidback locals, Southern charm and the perfect mix of the ocean and marsh. It's those qualites that Northeastern natives Samantha + Scott wanted to share with their wedding guests. The couple had recently relocated to Myrtle Beach and wanted their wedding to reflect their love for their new Lowcountry home. Samantha looked like the perfect Southern bride thanks to her gorgeous strapless gown from The Little White Dress and her fabulous up-do from R. Lozier Signature Salon. They selected the Reserve Harbor Yacht Club to host their ceremony and reception and this new wedding venue did not disappoint. One of our favorite photographers, Carolina Studios by Gillian Reinhardt, did her usual fabulous job capturing the Lowcountry entire affair. Their elegant poolside reception looked stunning with the help of a talented team of vendors, Greenskeeper Florist and The Trestle while Steve & Company kept the guests up and moving all night long!
Skylar + Chad {Washington Wedding}
Before we jump right in to today's dreamy Washington wedding, we wanted to give everybody a little update. Our brand spanking new blog will be launching in the next few weeks (hopefully the beginning of February!) and as our way of saying thanks to all our favorite Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head wedding vendors, we're offering some fantastic introductory rates on our new blog tiles. So, if you're interested in reaching Lowcountry brides, shoot us an email at hello{at}alowcountrywed.com and we'll pass along the info! Okay....now on to Skylar + Chad! This adorable couple wed in an intimate outdoor ceremony this past September in beautiful Blaine, Washington. Skylar impressively handled the rustic decor (and even tackled that gorgeous cake!), while her mother used the green and purple color palette to design all of the fabulous flowers. Courtney Bowlden Photography captured emotional images of the glowing bride in her stunning strapless gown as she saw Chad for the first time. I mean...they kinda made me tear up.
Jennifer + Patrick {Legare Waring House Wedding}
Our friends over at Richard Ellis Photography recently sent over Jennifer + Patrick's timeless Charleston wedding and we just couldn't wait to share it with you! Last February, on the grounds of Charlestowne Landing, the couple tied the knot under the breathtaking avenue of oaks. Since Patrick had proposed under the same oaks trees just months beforehand (with his great-grandmother's engagement ring!), the historic grounds were the only option for their wedding day location. After their beautiful outdoor ceremony, the couple moved the reception to the lawn of the Legare Waring House. Here, guests enjoyed a fabulous assortment of Charleston cuisine from Saigon Catering, exquisite natural floral arrangements from Country & Lace and the lively Joe Clarke Big Band who kept the crowd dancing all night long! As the sun set behind the gorgeous Legare Waring House, it made for a spectacular backdrop to a stunning Lowcountry wedding!
Chelsea + Ryan {Florida Wedding}
Natalie + David {South Carolina Wedding} MCG Photography
Tell us about the proposal...
What’s your favorite picture from your wedding?
Corrie and James of MCG Photography are such amazing photographers, it’s difficult to choose just one favorite. One that certainly is at the very top of our list, however, is the one of our first kiss as wife and husband. It really was such a magical moment.
Looking back on your engagement and wedding, is there any advice you would give to brides in the planning process?
Absolutely- It’s so easy to get caught up in what can seem like the million and a half details. With so many elements to choose and try to perfect, it’s really no wonder that there are countless programs, books, and magazines dedicated to planning a wedding. When planning gets stressful, it’s important to remind yourself what the day is really about. It’s not details like your shoes, the table drapes, and the design on the napkins that matter most, but the love that you and your fiancé share and are there to celebrate. The day is about that celebration and your devotion to one another, not how elaborately you can throw a party to please the guests. What you, and even your guests, will remember most are the moments that help express just how much you and your fiancé love each other. Keeping these thoughts in mind can help immensely when you and your fiancé are working your way through the stress of planning and after the wedding as well. No one, I imagine, wants to look back on her wedding day and remember it as the most stressful day of her life, but instead one of the happiest. Keep your focus on the love and happiness you and your fiancé share, and your wedding day will be one of the happiest days of your life, regardless of how any of the details unfold.
