Hilton Head Weddings

Southern Weddings {Wreaths}

Today I've done a little round up on an assortment of different wedding wreaths.  To me, wreaths are like the grown up version of balloons on your mailbox...it screams 'The party's this way!' but in a more elegant tone.  Wreaths are the perfect welcome accessory.  They let your guests know what type of event is around the corner.  While a wreath full of gorgeous blooms never goes out of style, don't be scared to think a little outside of the box.  Maybe some cotton, succulents, baby's breath...or even macaroons!

Martina + Volker: Rheingau, Germany Wedding

I've got a little European treat for you today from Gasoline Photography :)  Martina + Volker were married this past summer in the breathtaking region of Rheingau, Germany.  Rheingau is known for its beautiful vineyards, gorgeous scenery and amazing wines..all of which the couple made sure to incorporate into their big day.  The reception took place at the stunning Burg Schwarzenstein Restaurant & Hotel (seriously, you have to take a look at this place).  This chic location provided a joyful atmosphere where the guests danced and dined into the evening hours.  They ended the night with a celebratory fireworks display over the vineyards.

Arizona Wedding {Carmen + Tom}

It's Friday!  I don't know about you guys, but I woke up this morning and it was 58 degrees outside...where did that come from?  While I'm excited about the crisp Fall weather, I'm not quite ready to let go of Summer just yet.  So with that being said, today I'm going to squeeze in a sweet Arizona Wedding to cure my Summer blues.  Carmen + Tom tied the knot May 28th in Flagstaff, Arizona.  Carmen looked timeless in a classic J. Crew dress as she walked down the aisle in this low-key backyard ceremony.   With a purple and brown color palette, the couple we're able to achieve a laid back rustic vibe that seems to fit their personalities to a tee!  They couple even shot some hoops during their reception and if I had to guess, I'd say Carmen won (she's got wayyy better form)  Thanks to Arizona photo, Michelle Koechle for capturing these beautiful images...

Maureen + Brian {Southern Wedding}

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the ladies of Stay Forever Photography based out of Palm Beach, Florida.  They consistently produce classically vivid images.   They're experts in getting all the detail shots and what I REALLY love about them is their ability to capture all the special moments.  The ladies recently shot Maureen + Brian's  Palm City, Florida and, once again, it did not disappoint.  The couple was engaged for a little over a year before tying the knot in a beautiful church ceremony that was followed the perfect coastal reception.
I asked Maureen to join us today to tell us their love story...
Tell us a little bit about how you met your husband.  How long have you known each other?  Where did you meet?
Brian and I met under a very serendipitous occasion.  Neither of us had lived in Florida very long, and had only moved here to relax and get away for a bit.  There was a new restaurant starting up in town, and we had both secured kitchen positions.  Hundreds of people applied to work at this new restaurant, and we both made it.  As soon as I met him, I knew there was something special about it.  I went home and told my mom about him, and he went and told his sister about me!  We met a few days before Valentine’s Day, and starting dating April fool’s day.  He proposed to me a year later!

How did he propose?  How long were you engaged?
Our first official date was a walk on the beach after a rain storm had just passed.  The waves were huge that day, and jellyfish were strewn all over the beach.  We sat on the sand and just talked.  Nearly a year later, we took a walk on the beach- on our anniversary.  He said that he liked making memories with me- and I agreed.  And then he asked me if I wanted to make memories for the rest of our lives together, and he pulled out a beautiful ring.  And I simply said yes.  It was very intimate and special.  We were engaged for 14 months.

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?
There are almost too many wonderful moments when I see the slideshow in my head of that day!!   I can remember my excited anxiousness as we arrived at the church.  I remember walking down the aisle with my dad, and feeling like a superhero, knowing that I was marrying the best person in the world.  I loved our Church ceremony- it was so beautiful, so soft, and just lovely.  If I have to pick one moment as my most memorable, I remember having our first dance, and looking into each other’s eyes and singing the lyrics softly just enough so that we were the only ones that could hear it.  Just wonderful!

This is my favorite shot.  Maureen, first off, you are absolutely adorable and I love your expression in this image.  Secondly, I love how Brian is looking at her.  You can just see the love :)

What’s your favorite picture from your wedding?
I love this picture because it shows how wonderfully sweet Brian is.  He is so tender and loving in everything he does and it shows in my eyes how much I trust him.

How did you choose your venue?  What elements drew you to it?
We had first chosen and put a deposit down on a venue that is gorgeous.  But, the more I thought about it, and the logistics of everything, I became highly stressed out.  We started looking for other venues.  My parents live in a neighborhood with a golf course and yacht house.  It just made sense to go there instead.  It is located on a river, with gorgeous boats floating at the dock, the foliage around the building just boasts of south Florida charm, and the nautical touches inside made it masculine but not overpowering.   It was perfect.

Your wedding was filled with gorgeous details.  Did any have special meaning?  What was your favorite?
Everything about the day had real sentiment to it.  All of my grandparents have passed away, so we tried to honor and remember them with certain things.  The earrings that I wore were from a ring that my grandmother had, and my mom had the diamonds constructed on a silver chain. Brian carried my grandfather’s blue handkerchief that was wrapped up with a necklace that his grandmother had.  Our wedding flutes were given to me by my sister that had come from Ireland- where my grandmother was from.  I wore a ring, borrowed that day from my Aunt, as a replica of my Nanna’s onyx and diamond ring.  Everything that was incorporated into our wedding had meaning for us.  The list could go on.  It is nearly impossible to pick a favorite because everything was so so special.

Tell us a little about your menu.
We were intent on having a wedding where people loved the food and would be talking about it for years.  We enlisted Chef John Carlino and his team to create a masterpiece of a day for us!  Our cocktail hour- which was two hours- was filled with Southern style food; mini BBQ pork sliders, Caribbean jerked shrimp, Red Strip soaked chicken skewers, Florida fresh ceviche, and, my favorite- a fruit bar.  Freshly cut fruit topped with coconut or soaked in alcohol atop an ice bed with palm frawns frozen into it.  Dinner ran the gamut from lamb chops to filet mignon, from Caribbean quinoa with fruit to freshly made pasta purses with goat cheese and pears.  To conclude the dining portion of the night, my wonderful friend, Alexandra Mudry created our cake in Washington, DC and transported it on the plane with her.  She constructed it while in Florida!!  It was AMAZING!!

Looking back on your engagement and wedding, is there any advice you would give to brides in the planning process?
No matter what, things will always arise that you do not expect to happen.  That happened for us, on more than one occasion throughout our year plus of organizing.  You just have to go with the flow, don’t freak out, and realize that it might be better for you/ the day anyway in the long run.  Come up with 2nd and 3rd plans.  That way you are never shocked, and can move on easily from it without stressing.  AND have fun at the wedding- it only lasts for one day- so soak it all up!!!

Megan + Cullen: Texas Engagement

Sorry for today's delayed post, I've got a bit of a headache that made sure I slept in a little later than usual this morning...but no worries, I've got a ridiculous engagement session to share with you that will make up for my tardiness!  Texas photographer Kelsey Elizabeth sent over this beautiful engagement session that is filled with tons of natural light and a precious couple that I'm positive will make you swoon!  Kelsey selected an organic, woodsy landscape to really highlight Megan + Cullen's sweet laidback personality.   Megan has a sweet spot for books so they also made a trip to Denton Recycled Books Opera House.  But, the sweetest part was when Kelsey separated Megan + Cullen and asked them each to jot down what they loved most about the other.  Megan showed her card that said, “His Passion” and Cullen showed his that said, “She’s Mine.” So sweet!Best of luck to Megan + Cullen who will wed next June at the Four Seasons in Dallas, Texas!

Catering: Soup

The weather's got me shifting gears a bit.  Now, instead of thinking about a hot summer wedding, I can't get my mind off a cool fall bash.  It's reminding me how clutch it is to take into consideration the season while planning your wedding, especially when knocking out your menu.  Serving warm seasonal items when the air is brisk will make your guests feel nice and cozy...and what's more cozy than a tasty soup.

Passed Hors d'Oeuvres

One of my favorite ways to welcome guests is with a delicious shot o' soup.  Served in a small shot glass and garnished anyway you please, your guests will love the creativity.  A small helping of a delicious warm soup is the perfect way to get the reception off to a good start and get your guests excited about the rest of the menu.

First Course

Instead of kicking off your seated affair with a boring ol' salad, try treating your guests to a little something different.  Highlight the Lowcountry cuisine with an old favorite like She Crab Soup or a yummy seafood bisque.  If you've got dietary restrictions in your crowd try a Tomato Basil Bisque.

Straight from the Pot
If you're having a more casual affair for your wedding or rehearsal dinner, a nice hot soup served right from a cast iron pot is not only delicious, but it will add an extra rustic touch to the evening.

Soup Bar
So, we've seen there are plenty of ways to get creative with soup presentation.  One of my favorites is a soup bar.  With a variety of flavors and a mix of different vessels, your guests will have a field day with their mini soup taste testing.  If you're just looking to stick to one type, try a basic potato soup and provide multiple toppings so your friends and family can loaded it up!

Sage Hills of Central Washington

Good Morning!  I've been admiring this romantic Central Washington shoot from Nicole Conner Photography since it showed up in my inbox earlier this week.  The styling on this shoot is just dead on.  Elise, the model, is truly a classic beauty.  Her hair is soft, her dress is perfect, the setting is out of a dream and those flowers...those flowers make me swoon.  I'll let Nicole finish the rest...
"Adorned in a beautiful prom dress circa 1950, Elise shines as she floats gloriously through the sage hills of central Washington. A hand crafted birdcage veil and custom florals make this a sure win for the discerning bride! A soft neutral pallet of sage green create an ambient scene sure to please the eye. Loose curls and soft petal pink eyes glow nicely bringing out that late summer sun. Evening wedding's are a must during the late summer months, as the sun sets behind the hills and create that beautiful soft light. "

Peach + Aqua Wedding Inspiration

I'm starting to get really sad that summer is over :(  But I do have to admit I am LOVING  this weather. I was in Atlanta last weekend for the UGA game and it was a steamy 95 degrees on Saturday.  Twenty-four hours later and it's a refreshing 75.  So, I can't really complain about that.  Thanks to my good friend Pinterest, I'm able to hang on to all these gorgeous images until I find the perfect time to use them.  I've really been diggin' the color peach over the past few months and recently I've taken a liking to pairing it with a beautiful coastal blue.  It's a very classic, relaxing...and almost even a neutral palette.  It is a perfect combo for A Lowcountry Wedding...

Southern Weddings {Kylene + Adam}

Hopefully, you caught Kylene + Adam's fun Isle of Wight County Fair engagement session yesterday  (It was a good one!).  I'm glad to say the sweet duo is back today with some seriously beautiful scenic shots from their wedding.  The couple partied the night away at Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Virginia and spent the following day gallivanting around the resort with Grant & Deb Photographers in this jaw-dropping day after session.  Bay Creek played host as the coastal backdrop to an afternoon of fun as Kylene + Adam enjoyed the stunning water views and perfect scenery.  I have a feeling the newlyweds have already filled their house with all these images...if not, they better be working on it!

Kylene + Adam's Carnival Engagement Session

Hope everyone was able to soak up the last few days of summer this weekend!  Now that cooler weather is right around the corner, I can't help but get a teensy-bit excited that it's almost Fair season :)  I LOVE when the fair comes to town, and let's be honest...who doesn't.  I'm a big fan of the lights, cotton candy, the games and, of course, anything deep-fried (preferably Snickers or Oreos but I'm not picky).  Last year, my husband and I went to the SC State Fair in Columbia and had a fabulous time at the Boyz II Men concert (don't judge, it was a blast!).  So, to build up some anticipation for when the Fair comes rolling thru your town, we wanted to kick off this week with Kylene + Adam's fun engagement session from the talented Virginia Beach team of  Grant & Deb.

It's no different when it comes to finding seating for your guests.  The days of chair covers and ties are loooong gone!  Now, you can feel free to mix and match chairs of different sizes and colors to match the mood of your wedding at a relatively similar cost.  We've managed to compiled some of our favorite seating options for you to peruse.  Check out how each one brings a whole new element to the overall appeal of the wedding.  They all bring so much character to these weddings.  Not only can you go for a different chair option, but don't forget that you can spice up any old chair with a patterned cushion or a beautiful floral adornment.

Inspiration Board: Yellow + Gray

Hey everyone! My name is Brit and I'm a blogger and wedding stylist.  I was thrilled when Erin invited me to guest post while she's off on vacation. I have been itching to share this latest color board with readers. Yellow and gray are two colors I never tire of. There is just something modern, yet classic and antique about them together that I really love. With this palette I added a splash of olive green, for added freshness, and a touch of white gives it a great backdrop. This is one of those versatile palettes that can carry from Spring to Summer to early Fall.

Honey Horn Plantation Wedding {Jennifer + Rob}

So, I've been waiting for quite awhile to share Jennifer + Rob's Honey Horn Plantation Wedding.  From the moment I first saw these images I couldn't stop gushing over this color palette...and can you blame me?  Those bouquets are ridiculous!  The fabulous Jenny Evelyn was on hand to capture the gorgeous bride and her dapper groom tie the knot at this perfect Lowcountry Wedding.  I'm so in love with this wedding that I just had to know more, so I asked Jennifer to fill us in on some additional details about their big day...
So give us a little background on you and Rob...
I first met Rob at a church I visited with a few of my friends. We all went out for lunch after the service and he sat beside me. We had casual conversation at that point, but I had no idea he was even interested in me. I remember he was in a hurry to leave when we finished lunch because he was looking forward to watching a Clemson basketball game! We didn’t keep in touch until we became friends on Facebook. We began chatting and exchanged numbers after some time. He claims he asked me out to dinner while we were chatting on Facebook, but I didn’t think it was very obvious and I turned him down! Thankfully, he pursued me and eventually called me to ask me out for our first date.

Tell us about the proposal...
Rob planned the best proposal ever on December 19, 2009! He sent a package to my apartment filled with a beautiful dress and fancy shoes. The package also contained a letter telling me that I was in for an evening I wouldn’t forget! He explained that I was not to contact him and that someone would be there at 3:45 sharp to pick me up. Well, as I am reading this letter, I panicked because I hadn’t showered and it was already 2:45. Rob’s best friend picked me up promptly at 3:45 and handed me another letter that gave me clues to our first destination.  We stopped at three places and, at each place; a note was waiting for me. Each one was romantically written, rhymed, and reminiscent of our relationship and the experiences we’ve had together. At the final location, Rob was waiting for me on the beach. He read the final letter and it was then and there that he asked me to be his wife. Obviously, I said yes! The surprises didn’t stop there – we picked up my dad from the airport then met the rest of our family and friends for dinner to celebrate!

Why did you choose to have A Lowcountry Wedding?
We chose to have a lowcountry wedding because we live here – it’s where we met, where began our relationship and we share so many memories here.  Hilton Head Island also offers beautiful scenery for a wedding.

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?
The most memorable moment was the first time I saw Rob as I walked down the aisle with my dad. I couldn’t stop smiling! I also loved walking back down the aisle with Rob after we had been declared husband and wife!
Rob would say his favorite moment was the same and add that he loved the sound of the bagpipes playing as I walked toward him. The bagpiper was a surprise from me to him!

So, how did Honey Horn Plantation win you over?

We attended a wedding there together about a year before our wedding and it was extremely beautiful and very practical for a wedding. The large oak trees, the Spanish moss, the palm trees, and the dock by the water offered all the scenery you expect in the lowcountry. We also liked the ability to have the ceremony, social hour, and reception all in the same place but at different locations within walking distance on the plantation.

Tell us a little bit about your menu...

Our menu was all Lowcountry – pulled pork and chicken barbecue, macaroni and cheese, potatoes, green beans, salad, fruit and served sweet tea, lemonade, and water in small mason jars.

One of my favorite questions to ask brides is what was their favorite ________.  I especially like to know, out of all their gorgeous photographs, which takes the cake.  Obviously, you can tell Jennifer had plenty of gorgeous options thanks to Jenny Evelyn Photography but below was her ultimate favorite....don't you agree?

Looking back on your engagement and wedding, is there any advice you would give to brides in the planning process?
My advice would be:
  1. If you have a budget, do your absolute best to stick to it. Work backwards starting with how many people you are going to have attend the wedding.
  2. Enjoy the wedding and the wedding planning process – do your best not to get caught up on every little detail, especially as the wedding day gets closer.
  3. Remember this is your day as a couple – you cannot please everybody!
  4. The most important advice is to keep your focus on the marriage and commitment you are about to make instead of just the planning of one day.

Charleston Weddings {Lowcountry Inspiration Board}

Hi!  I'm Amanda from baci designer stationery + events, a custom stationery and event planning boutique located in Northeast Ohio.  A huge thank you to Erin for having me today :o)  My husband and I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for three years and while we were there our love for the south grew greater with each year that passed.  We loved it so much that in 2006 we were engaged while visiting Isle of Palms near Charleston (hands down our favorite place on earth!!)!  While we were sad to leave, our need to be closer to our families prevailed and we moved back to the Midwest a few years ago.  Everyday we miss all the things we adored so much about the south - the perfect weather, the soft southern accents that accompanied some of the most wonderful people and of course, the food!!  So I thought there wasn't a more perfect audience to create a Lowcountry Inspiration Board for than you all!  I envision the warm, vintage palette at an outdoor wedding on the land of a local plantation followed by a fabulous black tie reception in the main house complete with a fresh-caught seafood dinner, finishing off the night with a fully stocked cigar bar.  Southern charm at its best!

From A Southern Bride's Perspective...

Hi there - Lauren fromSouthern Aisle here!  When Erin asked me to take a look back at my wedding just a few short months ago, I was delighted to reflect on a few things I learned throughout the process.  One BIG thing planning my own wedding taught me was how to be a better wedding guest myself.  So, here’s a little run down of a few things that drove me completely bonkers as a bride and I have profusely vowed to never ever do again myself. Scouts honor!

RSVP I get it. We’ve all had that moment when you’re sorting through your pile of bills and magazines and out slips an RSVP card you haven’t sent back…to a wedding you’re attending this weekend.  Ruh       roh!  Life gets hectic and sending back that little response card isn’t always on the top of everyone’s to-do list, but I cannot express to you enough how dire this is.  I promise it’s not just for the benefit of knowing who to expect on your big day.  The bride needs to be able to report her final head count to many other vendors and it could ultimately affect her budget.  I once heard of a wedding where 60 extra people who did not RSVP showed up last minute; nowhere for them to sit and no food for them to eat.  Talk about every bride’s worst nightmare!  Luckily this did not happen to us, but I did have to do my fair share of pestering a handful of unaccounted for guests. If you misplace your card, a phone call, email or airplane banner will also get the message across. ;)

Presents – This may sound picky but if at all possible, try to avoid bringing your present to the wedding.  By bringing it the day of the event, you run the risk of your gift getting lost in the mix.  It’s one more thing for the bride and groom or their parents to transport after the wedding.  And, if the bride and groom do not reside in the city where they are getting married, it further complicates the process of getting the items to their final destination.  If you absolutely have to bring it, make sure the card or gift tag is securely attached so the couple will know whom to thank.  We had a few gifts that by the time they reached our hands had been separated from their card.  I had to play detective for days until we got it all sorted out. When in doubt, ship it!

a lowcountry wedding blog showcasing daily charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings, southern weddings, charleston wedding blogs, hilton head wedding blogs, myrtle beach wedding blogs

Face Time Everyone wants a little face time with the bride and groom.  After all, that’s the reason you are there; to show your love and support for the couple and give them your well wishes.  However, assess the situation before flocking.  For instance, when the bride and groom have just sat down to eat – probably not the best time to go interrupt.  Let them have a few moments of peace with each other and their (probably much needed) plate of food.  You can catch them on the dance floor later.  We personally tried to visit with and thank each guest for coming but inevitably missed some of our guests. And, if you aren’t able to get a little face time, do not be discouraged, I promise it’s not personal.  It’s just the way the wedding cookie crumbles – so many guests, so little time!
A big, big thank you to Erin for letting me pop over to A Lowcountry Wedding and share with all of you!  So, go forth and be a better wedding guest!
xoxo,
Lauren

Southern Weddings {Three Tips to a Fabulous Engagement Session}

Hiya! My name is Ariana Watts and I’m a Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer in Burlington, NC.
I love engagement sessions. They’re my favorite types of sessions. It’s your announcement to the world that you found your perfect match and you are indescribably happy! But I speak, not as a photographer, but from personal experience – they can be slightly nerve-wracking. What do I wear? Where do we go? Should I bring props? How long will it take? Heels or flats? Makeup or no makeup? Fiance or no fiancé?!!!
Okay well hopefully you can answer some, if not most, of those questions (yes, bring your fiancé, silly!) But in case you can’t, I thought I’d share a couple of tips to make your session as fabulous as you are.
1.       Choose A Special Location
Couple always ask me – where should we meet? Any suggestions? Of course, we HAVE suggestions. We know the prettiest parks and locations in a 60 mile radius, and beyond. But how much more sentimental and sweet is it to get an engagement shot on the steps of the coffee shop where you met? Or the playground you both grew up on (where he used to pull your pigtails!) Or how about that college campus where you had your first kiss? Every time you look at your photographs, you won’t just be seeing a photo of the two of you, you’ll be seeing the story of your relationship.
a lowcountry wedding blog showcasing daily charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings, southern weddings, charleston wedding blogs, hilton head wedding blogs, myrtle beach wedding blogs
2.       Pamper Yourself
The last thing you want to worry about is your makeup, nails, and hair. I mean you’re gorgeous – I know it, and HE definitely knows it. And it’s your ENGAGEMENT session, with your husband to be. You should be focused on him – his hair, his cute dimple, his laugh. Not YOUR hair silly girl. So go get pampered. Get your hair, makeup and nails done (they’ll be taking photos of that ring, you know). The best part? You will feel AH-MAZING. You’ll walk like you look amazing. You’ll smile endlessly. All because you’ll know you look beautiful, which you are. Duh.

**Side Note – Of course, we’ve all spent YEARS perfecting our makeup applying and curling iron techniques. So if you can do it – by all means do it. This is just my suggestion so it’s a totally stress free session for you!

3.       Show Us Your Love
Yes, we know you love each other, and as photographers, we loooOOoove to see it. The sideways glances, the tickling, the ear nibbles. Those are the things that make you guys unique. Only you laugh like that when he kisses you on your cheek. And he’s the only guy in the world who giggles endlessly when you tickle him. Its what makes you two… YOU! Be yourselves and give us the chance to document it.

Engagement sessions are fun. Relax. Enjoy them. Be in love. Be you. It’s an amazingly awesome part of your life and you need to make sure EVERY. ONE. KNOWS. IT. For reals. And if these tips make it a little easier, well I’m a happy photographer! Happy loving!

Wedding Keepsakes

My husband and I got married a little over a year ago and we were so touched that so many of our friends and family made the trip to Charleston for the weekend.  Since I grew up outside of Atlanta and my husband hails from Florida, even though we didn't consider our Lowcountry shindig a destination wedding many of our guests did.  Those travel expenses can add up pretty quickly!  So, needless to say, it meant a lot to us that, in addition to just attending the wedding, they also showered us with gifts.
While most guests stuck to our registries (which my kitchen very much appreciates!), some veered off and did their own thing...and not always in a good way.  Let's just say I still haven't acquired a liking for a few of the items.  I actually considered taking a picture of some of the "interesting" and cheesy gifts we received but figured that's pretty rude.  Like I said, I am more than thankful for any and ever gift we received, it just made me think that if guests choose to stray from the registry, it should be for something the bride and groom will treasure and not just toss to the side.
I guess you could say I'm a pretty sentimental person and I love any gift that has significant meaning, so I thought I'd round up some of my favorite wedding day gifts that are absent from your everyday registries.  I can promise you all of these keepsakes will be cherished for years to come.
"Remember the Day" Pillows
I may have a slight obsession with burlap which is why it's probably no surprise that Etsy dealer, Next Door to Heaven's, "Remember the Day" Pillows are one of my favorites.  These are the perfect day-to-day reminder of a couple's nuptials.

Venue Prints
Point DeVue is a Chicago based company that is a master of architectural artwork.   These unique sketches will add that personal touch to your gift.  What could be better than a constant reminder of the venue that was home to their magical evening.

Custom Heirloom Bowls
Located in Austin, Texas, Paloma's Nest specializes in all things heirloom.  They offer a large selection of handmade beauties that are intended to last for generations (just the way we like 'em!).  One of our favorites is the Large Custom Heirloom Bowls and it will look perfect displayed  in the bride and groom's home.

Sweetgrass Baskets
Ahhh, sweetgrass baskets.  The art of sweetgrass weaving is a Charleston staple that takes local palmetto strips and hand stitches them into intricate designs.  These sturdy keepsakes incorporate themselves nicely into any Lowcountry woman's serving ware collection.

Wedding Signs
I just love these.  Chocolate Butterbean makes the most beautiful wedding signs...don't you think?  They  are completely customizable and come in a range of sizes, mediums and the message is up to you.  The newlyweds will welcome this heartfelt addition to their humble abode!

Wedding Art Prints
I ran across Jenna Sue Designs on Sparkle & Hay last week and I've been smitten with it ever since.  This print is perfect for the sentimental bride and groom and can easily be reworked to include the couples own vows or the words their first dance.

Southern Weddings {Shannon + Quincy}

Being a Georgia grad, I'm kind of a sucker for anything that has to do with the city of Athens. (Speaking of, did you hear the Georgia Theatre finally reopened?!)  Athens is just a charming Southern town.  It's got great people, an awesome music (and bar!) scene and obviously a fabulous football team :)  So, naturally when the talented Nick Branch sent over Shannon + Quincy's April wedding I couldn't wait to get it up on the blog.  Shannon was a knock-out in her David's Bridal gown while the men rocked tuxes from Men's Wearhouse.  She walked down the aisle of the Seney-Stovall Chapel (an Athens staple) carrying a beautiful bouquet of red rose.  After the ceremony, the crowd headed down the street to the Hardeman-Sams House where they enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Southern Weddings {Anna + Patrick}

Whenever I talk to someone who is recently engaged and in the planning stage, (whether I know them or not), my first question is always, "Have you picked out your colors?!"   I love to see the color palette brides choose because it always says so much about their personality.  Today's Florida bride, Anna, picked a perfectly beach-y combo of orange and blue for her October nuptials which matches her and hubby Patrick's vivacious, laid back and classic style.  Anna is just radiant in her white Maggie Sottero gown which she paired with a few blue accessories (lovin' that necklace) that fit the mood of the day just right...don't you think?  The ladies of Stay Forever Photography, Jessica and Melissa, were on hand to capture all the loveliness (and boy did they do their job!).  With a beautiful backdrop of palm trees and a touch of the Florida sun, Anna + Patrick were wed at Fort Pierce Yacht Club.  They continued the evening with some serious dancing, delicious food and gorg flowers by Giordano's.

Southern Weddings {Jada + Dan}

Hope everyone is having a Happy Wednesday and staying cool from this serious summer heat!  I'm so excited to share Jada + Dan's sweet North Carolina engagement session by Charlotte Photographer, Vanessa Schrotenboer.  They spent the day at Latta Plantation as Vanessa captured some very frame-able images of couple in their element.  The lighting is perfect, the setting is beautiful and can you get a cuter couple? I don't think so!
