Y'all, we've got a big week here at A Lowcountry Wedding!  Today, with the help of our friends Scarlet Plan & Design, Dana Cubbage, Alden Haviland and more, we'll be shooting a pretty righteous surprise for A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  Tuesday, we'll be hanging out with Chloe of Top Knots & Polka Dots and the ladies of Pink Dot for a fun shoot all about what to pack for your honeymoon.  Needless to say, our instagram will be blowing up, so I highly suggests you head over to catch a few glimpses of all the pretty.  It's gonna be amazing!  We're so pumped to share this Pink Pawleys Island Plantation wedding from JJ Horton Photography.   Carrie + Brendan tied the knot at the quaint  Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, SC. before kicking it to Pawleys Island Plantation to celebrate. Pink & Grey Founders Hall Wedding by Sean Money + Elizabeth Fay

I hope everyone enjoyed the last weekend of the summer season here in the Lowcountry.  I have to say that I'm super bummed that my favorite time of the year is now officially over.  On the flip-side, the end of summer bring wedding season and SEC Football, so I'm sure I'll move on quickly!  As we usher in September, we thought we'd get things started with this lovely Pink and Grey Founders Hall Wedding captured by Sean Money + Elizabeth Fay.     Founders Hall is located just outside of Downtown Charleston on the grounds of Charlestowne Landing.  It’s the perfect spot for couples looking for a modern venue with a Lowcountry twist, just like Austen + Ryan.  Bride Austen donned a lovely lace gown while her bridesmaids sported adorable grey dresses with pink sashes from Target.  We're loving the effortless flower arrangements from Dazzling Designs with pops of pink peonies!

The couple opted for a first look and portraits in Downtown Charleston before gathering with friends and family at a morning beach wedding on Isle of Palms. Afterwards, everyone was treated to brunch catered by MOSAIC. Their country garden reception featured a rustic family-style table adorned with sky blue and lemon chiffon painted mason jars and eclectic floral arrangements. This wedding is the epitome of why Charleston is a perfect destination wedding location – with its beaches, historic downtown, and plenty of culinary and entertainment options, couples and their family and friends can enjoy a vacation topped with a lovely wedding celebration."

Beaufort Wedding Engagement by Andrea Kuehnis Photography

Swiss wedding photographer, Andrea Kuehnis, made a recent trip to the Lowcountry and what she captured is something we just have to share.  The sweet couple, Addison + Andrew, who will be tying the knot later this year on Hilton Head, decided that the charming town of Beaufort would be the perfect spot for their engagement pictures.  The weather was as unexpected as it always in the summer and served up some rain shower delays but the duo was able to squeeze in just enough time to capture some seriously gorgeous images.  They even took some time to toast to the big day.  Thanks to Andrea Kuehnis for capturing this lovely Beaufort Wedding Engagement!

Hilton Head Wedding Inspiration at Stoney Baynard Ruins

I'm thrilled to share this gorgeous Hilton Head Wedding Inspiration shoot from the talented Julie Roberts.  This beauty was on the grounds of the Stoney Baynard Ruins and combines romantic evening sunlight, the ruins of an old, mysterious Southern Plantation and a veil that's bound to take your breath away.

From Julie Roberts Photography: "This gorgeous couple, Sara and Jack, agreed to model for a little styled session that I did in Hilton Head last summer. I've been so excited to feature these images that are full of super sultry evening sun light. When I first thought of doing this session I called up my friends at The Gilded Gown and they happily agreed to lone us this gorgeous gown, veil, and all accessories as well as the suit and accoutremont. The adorable flowers were done by Allie with Sassafras Flowers. I discovered her through the wonders of facebook ... and was thrilled when she agreed to be a part of this little project. Her work is so whimsical and artistic! The location for our session was a sweet little find my mom discovered tucked away on Hilton Head Island, SC. The Stoney-Baynard Ruins are the remnants of a grand antebellum plantation home built 1793-1810 by Captain John Stoney. The original house was built of timber and tabby which is a mixture of oyster shells, lime, and sand. The up close texture of the ruin walls was WONDERFUL. The home was raided during the Civil War and Union forces made it their headquarters. It burned down shortly after the Civil War. I LOVE the mystery and charm of old plantation ruins. Paired with the elegance of a lace wedding gown and string of fresh water pearls this scene is my idea of the perfect deep south wedding inspiration."

William Aiken House Wedding by Mingle + Hyer Images

A vibrant magenta and orange color palette set the stage for Jennifer + Rizwan's stunning William Aiken House wedding in Charleston, South Carolina last July.  Bride Jennifer donned a dazzling strapless gown, sparkly pink Kate Spade heels and a bouquet by Wildflowers Inc. that is so gorgeous it needs to be on the cover of a magazine.  Her bridesmaids rocked amazing saris in shades of magenta and purple with gold accents, while accessorizing with gorgeous white bouquets.   For the ceremony, Rizwan wore a traditional sherwani while his lively groomsmen wore grey suits and magenta ties.  The couple said 'I do' outdoors on the lawn of the William Aiken House before celebrating the night away with their guests.  The team at Mingle created a beautiful evening full of pin-able details.  Fish served up their signature cuisine and even incorporated a handful of Indian dishes to give a nod to the Groom's family's heritage.   From the lovely silver linens and lanterns that illuminated the night, to the candelabras overflowing with vivid blooms, Two 3 Ways keeping guests up and out of their chairs, and elegant cake by Gala Desserts, we can't get enough of this exquisite Charleston wedding!  Thanks to Hyer Images for capturing all the details.

Nautical Charleston Wedding Engagement by Kelly Dillon Photography

Fresh, clean photography, an adorable couple and the charm of the Holy City makes for one very happy A Lowcountry Wedding Editor and a gorgeous Nautical Charleston Wedding Engagement.  The lovely Kelly, of Kelly Dillon Photography, spent the afternoon with Olivia + Chad discovering the quaint corners and cobblestone streets of Charleston before heading over to the harbor to capture a few shots by the marina!  I'm loving the couple's outfit choices, from the slightly more formal looks as they touredDowntown, to the more casual attire over by the water.  I'm totally obsessing over Olivia's preppy pink top  and navy and white striped skirt.

Coastal Ivory and Navy Wedding at the Rice Mill Building

Ashley + Greg were married in the heart of the Holy City at the French Huguenot Church in a traditional ceremony.  After saying 'I do', the couple and their bridal party spent some time posing on the cobblestone streets with their photographer, Dana Cubbage, before joining their guests at the Rice Mill Building for an elegant ivory + navy wedding designed by Candice of Yoj Events.  Branch Design Studio created stunning floral arrangements filled with orchids, astilbe and ranunculus while Good Food Catering delivered a tasty array of Lowcountry cuisine.  We're loving Bride Ashley's gorgeous gown, the beautiful Jim Smeal creation and the cozy lounge area.

Last year, you may remember we featured Becca + Jay's Folly Beach wedding at the Pink Flamingo Beach House in our inaugural issue of A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  It was amazing and the perfect location for anyone looking for a low-key beach affair, so I was super excited when Jenn + Brian's coastal bash made it's way to my inbox.  This sweet couple also selected the Pink Flamingo to host their Lowcountry soiree and, with the help of the team at Party. Love. Birds, they created an effortless ocean side backdrop for their beautiful wedding day.  My favorite details - the dessert bar from Wildflour Pastry, the succulent centerpieces and the outdoor lighting that made for the perfect evening under the stars!

Blue, Blush + Gold South Carolina Aquarium Wedding by Whimsey Photography

Kate + Nate were married in a tradtional ceremony at Second Presbyterian Church last summer in the heart of Downtown Charleston, South Carolina.   To celebrate, the newlyweds joined their guests for a lively reception at The South Carolina Aquarium.  Kate is a professional ballerina, a graphic designer and a wonderful artist, so it was no surprise that she put her creativity to work for her big day!   She designed all of the details and amazing programs for her wedding guests.  They chose a color palette of blue, blush & gold to accent the Aquarium and their aquatic guests.   Our favorite part, in lieu of a traditional wedding cake, the couple treated their guests to a delicious Doughnut Table and adorable Groom's cake in the shape of a bow tie!  Thanks to Whimsey Photography for capturing this gorgeous South Carolina Aquarium Wedding!

Old Village Post House Wedding by Riverland Studios

Jillian + Jefferson said 'I do' this past Spring at St. Luke’s Chapel before making their way over the Ravenel Bridge to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina where Cana of Riverland Studios joined them at The Pitt Street Bridge. Here, they enjoyed the sun-drenched Lowcountry for some beautiful portraits that I'm positive they'll cherish for years to come.  After, they joined their guests for an intimate reception at The Post House in the Old Village where the couple’s family and friends enjoyed a beautiful dinner, wine and cupcakes from Sugar Bakeshop!  Bride Jillian chose a romantic color palette of soft pinks and gold for the table settings and details.   Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing this beautiful Old Village Post House Wedding!

Historic Rice Mill Building Wedding from Liz Duren Photography

We've been on a bit of a Rice Mill kick recently and I'm in no big hurry to get off of it!  This gorgeous Lowcountry wedding venue boasts picturesque views of the Charleston Harbor, an amazing bar and a killer coastal breeze, and it was the perfect location for Sarah + Phillip's Memorial Day weekend affair.  With the help of her friends, Sarah made all of the decorations that Pretty Petals filled with luscious flowers.  Sarah's bouquet got a memorable addition with roses from her Grandfather's garden.  After their outdoor ceremony, Liz Duren Photography joined the newlyweds and their bridal party down by the Marina where they ran into the one and only, Shep Rose from the cast of Southern Charm!  We're loving this gorgeous cake from d'lish,  Sarah's lovely gown and all the adorable Southern details in this Historic Rice Mill Building wedding!

Citadel Wedding at the Summerall Chapel by Catherine Ann Photography

If you're in the market for a natural light photographer, then you're about to fall head-over-heels in love with recent Charleston-transplant, Catherine Ann Photography, and I'm about to prove it to you with this gorgeous Citadel wedding!  For any of you ladies with ties to the Citadel, I'm certain you'll be obsessing over the shots from inside the barracks and at the Summerall Chapel...cause I sure am!

From Catherine Ann Photography: "The Summerall Chapel at The Citadel has really sentimental value for Kyle and Macie. Kyle has spent the past 4 years at the Citadel and they have fallen in love with the campus and atmosphere! Before getting dressed for the day, Macie & Kyle met up for half an hour with their pastor to pray with each other and take communion. They had a short reception and spent a lot of time mingling with their guests and spending time with friends and family who traveled from other states to be with them. Macie's favorite flower is the sunflower which was incorporated in the decor as well as the bouquets for the girls. They had a really fun and colorful candy bar set up for guests to take home as favors. Once the reception was over, Macie & Kyle romped around The Citadel and downtown Charleston for 2 hours to take photos!"

The NotWedding Charleston Returns to Boone Hall Plantation this July!

We are thrilled to announce that The NotWedding is returning to Charleston for round two this summer at one of our favorite Charleston wedding venues, Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday, July 9th.   So mark your calendars!  The ceremony is planned for 7:00 pm and already has quite the extensive line-up of Lowcountry wedding vendors.   The NotWedding is a bridal show alternative in the form of a big, fake wedding. “Wedding Guests” are brides- and grooms-to-be who enjoy a touching ceremony, a tasty dinner and a dance-party reception while truly experiencing the wedding vendors in action.  Not to mention, The Not Wedding always creates some serious prettiness and dreamy inspiration for your big day.  You can check out The Not Wedding Charleston which was held at the Rice Mill Building last year.

Those attending will experience a perfectly planned “wedding” and have the opportunity to meet the vendors (including The Click Chick Photography, Clay Austin Photography & Scarlet Plan & Design) behind the scene. The bride and groom featured throughout the event are actually a married couple from the Charleston area that will be using the event to renew their vows.

Tickets include an emotional (fake) wedding ceremony encouraging strong marriages, a delectable catered dinner, and a reception full of drinks, dancing and dessert. The NotWedding also boasts a handful of surprises planned for the guests throughout the evening.

Callie Murray, owner of The NotWedding, believes her company offers a revolutionary twist to the traditional bridal show: “The NotWedding allows brides-to-be to get a feel for how wedding vendors would actually perform on their wedding day, and wedding vendors love being able to truly show off what they do and how they work under the normal pressures of a wedding day.”
