"My best advice to brides would be to work with vendors whom you really enjoy, admire or greatly respect. Throughout the wedding planning process, you spend an unbelievable amount of time communicating with them both in person and via email and it definitely helped in times of stress to be communicating to someone I liked. Also, some vendors you will see for a longer amount of time during your wedding than you do your guests! This is especially true of the photographer!"
"I am so glad I wrote letters to my each of my parents and my fiancé (at the time) and gave it to them the day before the wedding. In life there are rare occasions where you are making a major life transition and have a perfect opportunity to tell someone how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate their love and support. In addition, expressed my gratitude for the gift of a wedding celebration as well as my excitemen for the weekend. For my parents letter, I spoke about how much I appreciated their love and encourage over the years and talked about how my fiancé is exactly who they have wanted me to marry. To my future husband, I wrote about why I wanted to marry him, what I was excited about for our life together and how very much I love him."
Also, I am so glad we decided to do all of our speeches during the rehearsal dinner! This allowed people to talk as long as they wanted without feeling rushed. Also, everyone who came to the rehearsal dinner really wanted to be there and it felt really special. Also, logistically, everyone could hear the speeches since it was a smaller crowd.
