Candlefish - Scented Candle Making Class
Last week, I had the pleasure of attending 'Blogger Night' at the brand new Candlefish shop downtown....and it was awesome! The shop was the brainchild of the minds behind Rewined and Produce Candles and offers a killer selection of pre-made candles, beautiful stationery products, local Charleston goods and wonderful gift ideas for just about anyone you could think of.
But the best part is definitely the Library. Yep, I said it. There's an entire Library of 100 intoxicating aromas that are bound to satisfy anyone's sense of smell. Not only is the library an eye-catching focal point in the room, complete with an vintage, library ladder, but its intent is to give you the chance to "smell" test your way to the perfect candle. In fact, they've devised a system to mirror the old-school card catalog where you track your progress so in the future you can remember which scents work best for you.
For 'Blogger Night', I joined seven other lovely Lowcountry ladies (Kaitlyn of dayjobsanddreams.com, Megan of holycitychic.com, Ally of aahlifeasiknowit.com, Annie of anniereeves.com, Jillian of cornflakedreams.com, Ryan of apolishedpalate.com and Gillian of acoastalbride.com) for an evening of candle-making, wine drinking and some good ol' Candlefishin'!
The class lasted about 2 hours and Hannah and Alyssa of Candlefish took us through the process step-by-step. After we hit up the library to select our scents of choice, we took turns pouring the hot liquid wax, which we then whisked the fragrance oil. It was a great, relaxing evening and so fun to see everyone's candles come to life. If you're in the mood for a hands-on evening with a group of girlfriends (we think it would be perfect for a bridal shower or a bachelorette party activity!), I would highly recommend it! The crew at Candlefish is kind enough to offer A Lowcountry Wedding readers a 20% discount off any class at any date in 2015, but the code (CHASBLOGGER14) expires December 31, 2014 at 11:55 PM, so act fast!
Rewined Candles Factory Tour in Charleston, SC
This summer, I asked my friend Mackenzie of The Click Chick Photography to join me on a field trip to the aromatic Rewined Candles Factory. While I may have procrastinated in getting the post up, I’m still daydreaming about the delicious scents and the wonderful people that make Rewined one of our local favorites. Anita, their marketing gal, and a wonderful candle maker in her own right, was kind enough to give us a peak inside their world and share the tale of how our favorite wicks were born. The story of Rewined Candles immediately made me think, “How did I not think of that?!” Founder Adam Fetsch had been working in the food & bev industry and regularly witnessed the disposal of countless wine bottles. Soon a light bulb went off and he figured out the perfect way to re-purpose them - wine bottle candles with scents that mimic the tasting notes of wine. Genius! In addition the popular wine scents (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, etc.) they've recently added the Produce line to their repertoire. These lovelies bring the fresh scents of the farm right into your living room (think Carrot, Cilantro, Honey, Melon and more). I'm currently obsessing over the Fall seasonal, which I'm hoping will become a staple, the Fig. Our favorite part - these beauties are the perfect addition to your wedding day weekend. Whether it's favors at your wedding shower or a parting gift for your guests at your reception, everyone's nostrils will thank you! Oh, and our friends at Rewined could use your help. They're a finalist in the 2014 Martha Stewart American Made Contest and would love for you to throw them a vote - or two!

Day After Session {Brooke + Brad}
As most of you know, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring you our first ever A Lowcountry Wedding Lookbook that will be available for purchase this Fall! It’s been a crazy summer as we’ve dove head first into a world of styled shoots, fashion editorials and graphic design (lots of graphic design!) like we’ve never experienced before. With that being said, it’s been an incredible learning experience and SO much fun, so thank you to my wonderful interns and everyone that’s been involved so far. I couldn’t do it without you and I really can’t wait to share the end results! I do need your help with one more little thing though :) I"m looking for your favorite reception pics, you know, the one’s where your guests are really in the midst of busting a move. So, if you’ve got an image of a friend, bridesmaid, grandmother or crazy aunt getting their groove on, then send it over to hello{at}alowcountrywed.com. They’ll be put to good use! Now, on to the fun stuff because you know I wouldn’t dare ask a favor and not have a little Charleston wedding loveliness to back it up. Brooke and Brad were actually married in Greenville, South Carolina, but they made their way down to the Lowcountry for a beautiful day-after session in the Holy City with Patrick Hall Photography!

DeBordieu Club Weddings {Bevin + Casey} Carmen Ash Photography
While we’re still recovering from all that glittery goodness we delivered yesterday, we’re moving on to Georgetown, South Carolina where they deliver wonderful DeBordieu Club weddings that are sure to suit your fancy. Georgetown is a cozy, coastal town located north of Charleston and just south of Myrtle Beach. It is home to the beautiful DeBordieu Club which recently hosted Bevin + Casey’s lively Lowcountry wedding. The beautiful couple brought on the talented crew at Blossoms Events to dazzle their guest with dreamy peony and tulip arrangements, while the bridesmaids were dressed in fabulous LulaKate gowns. As always, thanks to the wonderful Carmen Ash Photography for capturing this one-of-a-kind DeBordieu Club wedding!

Laura + Cory {Charleston Engagement}
If you've ever stepped foot in the Lowcountry, there's a good chance you've developed a soft spot in your heart for the region and I can always see that adoration when checking out a couple's engagement session. Arizona couple Laura + Cory are currently planning their destination wedding in Charleston and they recently teamed up with Shannon of Riverland Studios for this dreamy engagement session at two of my favorite locations; the classic Legare-Waring House and the laid back shores of Folly Beach. From their comfortable demeanor and flawless clothing selections to the stunning venues and romantic photography, every detail was pure perfection. Oh, I forgot to mention that Laura even decorated one of the abandoned boats of Folly Road to create a personalized backdrop!
