From the photographer: Despite sharing many mutual friends throughout college, Kaitlyn and Aaron did not actually meet until the first semester of their senior years at Syracuse University. The timing could not have been better, as both Kaitlyn and Aaron were, for the first time in a long time, open to (although perhaps not necessarily looking for) love. From the time of their first date, Aaron knew that he would be dedicated to Kaitlyn forever. And, no matter how many times the universe seemed to point Kaitlyn in the opposite direction, she continued to stick around and fall in love.
Both hard-working and motivated in their own right, Kaitlyn and Aaron left Syracuse University determined to make a name for themselves in their respective fields. Kaitlyn’s path led her to Minneapolis where she accepted a fashion design job at Target, while Aaron stayed in New York. Despite the distance (and having both previously sworn off long-distance relationships forever), Kaitlyn and Aaron remained committed to each other. Each visit, either to Minneapolis or New York or Hilton Head, was its own mini-excursion, romantic getaway and reminder of why they fell in love. Finally, in the summer of 2013, after over three years apart, Kaitlyn took a leap of faith and left a job she loved to join Aaron in New York.
Kaitlyn and Aaron moved into a one-bedroom apartment in Hoboken and, together with the infamous cat Betty, formed their own little family. Over the years, Kaitlyn’s and Aaron’s friends and family doubled as each were embraced with open arms by all they hold dear. During Labor Day weekend 2015, Aaron proposed to Kaitlyn in front of a bed of flowers at the lake behind her childhood home. After some much needed coaching that a verbal response was necessary, Kaitlyn said yes! With loved ones scattered across the country, Kaitlyn and Aaron quickly agreed that the ideal place to tie the knot would be Hilton Head Island, a place they have enjoyed both separately and (especially) together for many years.
