Amanda and Ben knew one thing was certain when they were planning their Charleston wedding at The Creek Club at I'On. They wanted their guests to feel relaxed and at home. With the help of Charleston event planner, Elle Courtney Events, that's just what they achieved. The maids were draped in royal blue and the men in grey as the bridal party walked down the outdoor aisle to the mesmerizing sounds of The Plantation Singers before Amanda and Ben said 'I do'. After, the newlyweds enjoyed some intimate moments by the water as their photographer, Diana Deaver, captured some stunning sunset shots. The festivities continued as The Extraordinaires took the stage. Baby's breath centerpieces graced the tabletops and guest enjoyed a full on oyster roast and Paolo's Gelato! From The Bride: Ben and I love having our friends and family over for dinner and small parties. We wanted the wedding to have that same informal and intimate feel, like we were just "having folks over." The casual feel also made the whole occasion feel a little less intimidating for me. So what is the first thing you do when you have people over? Offer them a drink of course! When guests arrived they were greeted by black and white pictures of us taken throughout our relationship lining the wrap-around porch, which led straight to the bar. From there they could take a seat with their drink overlooking the marsh and creek. The Plantation Singers brought out the soul of the Lowcountry, providing music before, during, and after the ceremony. After the quick and sweet ceremony, that had laughs and tears, we served up another great Lowcountry tradition: oysters! The oyster hour reinforced the casual "help yourself" feel of the event. While the wedding wasn't as small as we originally planned, we felt right at home doing our favorite thing: hosting the people we love.
