The team at Engaging Events worked their magic when they designed Hannah + Andy's October wedding at The Island House. From the draping and ceremony programs to the table linens and chandeliers, the couple's gold and navy color palette was expertly woven throughout their Lowcountry affair. Bride Hannah dazzled in a strapless, tiered lace gown and carried an all-white bouquet of garden roses created by Engaging Events. Her bridesmaids all wore long, flowing blue dresses with their choice of neckline. Andy and his groomsmen wore grey suits with navy ties. The couple exchanged vows in front of friends and family along the banks of Johns Island's Stono River where rose petals lined the aisle. After the ceremony, guests made their way to the tent where they were greeted by mojitos and an elegant reception with chic lounge furniture, soft centerpieces and a lovely three tiered cake from Pawley's Island Bakery. Guests enjoyed Charleston cuisine from MOSAIC Catering before hitting the dance floor to the sounds of The Dickens. Thanks to Rebecca Keeling Studios for capturing their Island House wedding!
From the bride: "Hannah is from the eastern shore of Virginia and Andy is from the eastern shore of Maryland. We both grew up in small towns, and decided to go to an out-of-state college. While I was a sophomore and he was a senior at North Carolina State University, we met at a Pi Kappa Alpha/Zeta Tau Alpha mixer. We bonded over our similar hometowns and our love of all things nerdy (like science and Harry Potter). My dad jokes that he "sent his baby girl to an out of state college so she could meet a guy from right up the road!"
Fast forward a year, and Andy started dental school at the University of Maryland. We had a long distance (6 hours!) relationship for two more years as I finished undergrad, and then I got a job and moved up to Baltimore as soon as I graduated.
We knew we wanted to end up back down south with more space and warmer weather, so when Andy finished dental school, he got a job outside of Myrtle Beach and we moved to Pawleys Island, SC. We've decided to plant our roots here in PI, and now have a big back yard for our two furry children to run and play!"
The Wedding Day: "The day could not have been more perfect! The weather was amazing - sunny and 70 with a bit of a breeze. By the time we arrived at our venue, The Island House, that little breeze turned into some fairly strong wind, and the tablecloths were trying to make their escape into the Stono River! But miraculously, (I'm convinced our wedding planner has some magic up her sleeve) by the time we were walking down the aisle, the wind had stopped, the sun was shining, and there were even dolphins frolicking in the river! The reception tent was right next to the ceremony space, so as our guests walked in they were greeted with a tower of mojitos and the wedding party was announced. We had our favorite band from college come down to Charleston to play at our wedding, so most of the reception was spent on the dance floor! I even got on stage and rapped "Forgot about Dre". When we left our reception, our guests formed two lines and cheered with NC State pom-poms as we walked to our chauffeured Rolls Royce and were whisked away into the night!"
