Best Piece of Advice: Be grateful – your engagement year and wedding is when you have the opportunity to see the true colors of a lot of friends and family (and they, your true colors)…if you have chosen to surround yourself with good people you will continually be surprised by how care and generosity of your loved ones. Having a wedding cancelled and rescheduled only add to that. The way people stepped up to help us was tremendous.
Tell us how you met: We met my freshman year of college at wake forest university, were good friends and started datingat the very beginning of sophomore year. Been together almost 9 years. Have had the benefit of his good guy friends being my good friends and my god girlfriends being his best girlfriends. Has made the ride all more fun
Proposal Details: Jackson proposed to me a couple of days before Christmas in my hometown. Gave me his great grandfathers ring that his dad proposed to his mother too. However, because it was so old I had to have the setting reset, my Christmas gift was resting the ring with whatever band I wanted
Tell us about your dress shopping experience: I wanted something sophisticated and statuesque. Went with my mom, stepmom and mother in law (jacksons an only child so wanted to make sure she had the opportunity to be a part of this) plus two bridesmaid. Although we went to 4 spots in one day, my dress was found at the first spot and it was being compared to all day. It was a very small sample side so there was a lot of trust. Loved the dress and love the designer, he was super personal and sews a something blue ribbon underneath. Designer was Peter Langner, the veilw also PL
Hair and makeup: Bride’s Side Beauty. Jessica’s team was so professional, so amazing, speaking from being a bridesmaid this was THE most effiecnet hair and makeup process I have been a part of it
Bridesmaids Attire: Jenny Yoo – my cousins were my made of honor. My cousins suit was made by The Tailory New York in NYC
Men's Attire: Did you decide on a first look? Why or why not? Yes because A) we want to get to the party faster but b) weddings are for your friends and family as much or more so than they are for the bride and groom. We chose to have a moment alone and read our written vows to each other, alone . We wanted to do the traditional vows in front of everyone else but wanted to do our vows to each other. I am so glad we did that – it was my favorite moment of the evening
My mom hid a lucky little elephant in my getting ready button down, right when I was about to get in my dress I felt something in my pocket and found this elephant in my pocket with this poem (my favorite animal which everyone knows)My mom wasn’t in the room at the time so we all started freaking out about how that got there – seems obvious now but at the time it seemed crazy serendipitous
Aesthetic + color palette: Green, white, blue-grey and hints of gold
Tell us all about the décor: I think the coolest part was when you walked into the reception, there were flowers hanging from the ceiling when you got your name card.
Specialty drink: Champange and Chamord
Describe your flowers: We basically just had a ton of greenery with white flowers. My bridemaids had a hint of pink to differentiate. I was obsessed with my cascading bouquet with peonies and white roses and there was other amazing filler that had pods that really gave it a holiday vibe.
Afterparty: Back at the Inn we had Sara Bruns who was SPECTACULAR play music at the Inn, we also had Chick-Fil-a awaiting as a late night snack – After party was just as good if not better than the wedding itself – we had rented out the hotel so were able to hang out to the wee hours of the morning haning with friends and singing and dancing
