I hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday season! We're spending time with family and gearing up for a big 2014 here at A Lowcountry Wedding blog! But before we head into the New Year, we've just GOT to share a few more Charleston weddings to round out 2013 and today's beauty is going to make you glad we did. This Southern stunner took place at the beautiful Legare Waring House where a dream team of Charleston wedding vendors joined forces to pull off a truly pin-able bash! Thanks to Juliet Elizabeth Photography for capturing all the details.
"From a young age I knew I wanted to be married in Charleston. My dad is from there and every time we would visit I would tell him how this is where I would have my wedding. Luckily for me I fell in love with a man who loves Charleston as much as I do. The look and feel of the wedding were based on our thoughts of what a southern wedding would be like. We wanted everyone to feel like they were coming to our home and that they could kick off their shoes and dance under the oaks.
Legare Waring was the perfect venue to create that feeling. It is so charming and beautiful. Being married under the oaks is all I ever wanted so with the ceremony we wanted to keep it simple and let the natural beauty of Charleston shine through. We really wanted the attire to have the look of the south as well. I had visions of southern gentlemen in my head the minute we got engaged. The teal seersucker bow ties and the monogrammed bracers were the cherry on top for me! Not to mention our adorable ring bearers. I mean does it get any cuter?
As for the cocktail area and reception, my family played a huge role in how the decorations came together. Both of my Grandmothers and my mom helped me collect the blue mason jars, vintage tin cans, milk glass for the flowers and the vintage cake plates for the pies. We went to several antique festivals and traveled to a lot of shops looking together. My dad and I built the sign for the reception as well. The flowers were all my favorites: peonies, ranunculus, and anemone. I knew I wanted a mixture of yellow and white but I could have never of dreamed of what Ooh! Events would create. They came out so beautifully. We chose pies because neither one of us are huge cake fans and we thought it would be so much fun for our guest to have their own miniature pie. My great aunt always makes a chocolate pie when I see her and Wildflour's chocolate pie is the only one that has ever come close. So we knew we had to work with them. The food played a key part in our southern theme. We wanted the traditional shrimp and grits that Charleston is known for, along with She crab soup and fried green tomatoes but the build your own mini burgers and fries bar was my favorite because it was so Brian and me. Anyone who knows us knows we look for the best burger no matter where we go. Cru Catering did not disappoint at all!
Clint and the guys at Squeeze did an amazing job with our cocktails and helping me surprise Brian with an awesome Bourbon bar. Brian being a Kentucky boy knows and loves his Bourbon and I couldn't have done it with out the help of Clint. We consider Squeeze our home bar away from home. Clint has been our friend for years and I couldn't imagine not having him and his team there. I know Brian would say he loved the cigar roller as well. It was a huge crowd pleaser and the best gift I could have gave him.
I have been told by many people that we had the dream team for our Charleston wedding. Juliet as the photographer, Ashley as my makeup and hair designer and Ooh! Events as our wedding planners. I couldn't agree more! Without these three the wedding would have never been as dreamy and charming as it turned out to be. I had a vision and Ooh! Events made it come to light. The minute I walked in, it was like they knew me already. I know people look back at their weddings and especially with pintrest now and say 'Man,I wish I would have done that,' but not us, this was truly everything we wanted and more. I watch the video and look at the pictures and my heart just burst with joy. We are proud of this wedding and look back on this day so fondly. I would have to say dancing with friends and family under the bulb lights, drinking out of a mason jar and laughing and smiling with my new husband more than I ever have before was most definitely the best night of my life."
