EVE & PATRICK
A Soho South Cafe Wedding
From the bride’s Harry Potter-themed shoes to the tasty tower of Krispy Kreme donuts for dessert, there is no denying that Eve & Pat’s main objective was to throw an epic party for their nearest and dearest to celebrate their nuptials — one that highlighted their joyful and spunky personalities.
“Our wedding was not just a celebration of Pat and I,” explains Eve. “It was a celebration of all of our friends and family who supported us and cheered us on, both as individuals and as a couple. It was as much for them as it was for us.”
A huge Harry Potter fan, Eve chose to don a pair of Harry Potter-themed TOMS under her gown, perfect for incorporating a personal touch and allowing her to dance with ease. Eve skipped a traditional veil in favor of a fresh floral crown, which beautifully set off her whimsical look.
Ease and comfort were the themes for choosing the attire for the event. Bucking tradition, Eve decided to fly solo when shopping for her wedding dress. Not a woman who daydreamed about “the dress”, Eve was on the hunt for something unique and beautiful, in which she could feel comfortable enough to dance the night away. Her pale pink, strapless Jacklynn Bridal gown featured a sweetheart neckline. The fitted mermaid silhouette finished with a triple-tiered, ruffled skirt and modest train. Even the polka dots covering the entire gown announced, ‘I’m here for a good time!’
Eve & Pat opted for a first look before their ceremony and invited their two rescue dogs to join them for the emotional reveal. The excitement and joy on their faces is nearly palpable — for both the humans AND the dogs.
The couple, who met as cadets at The United States Military Academy in New York, chose Soho South Cafe in Savannah, Georgia as the venue for both their ceremony and reception. With mismatched chairs, vibrant colors, and a touch of vintage flair, Soho South provided the perfect environment for this eclectic bride and groom. “Soho South was quirky and beautiful,” Eve describes. “I wanted a place with personality, that was fairly casual. I did NOT want a traditional wedding. I wanted a party!” And a party was had by all.
Bridesmaids were encouraged to choose a dress of their liking in the nude or gold color scheme Eve selected. The end result was a gorgeous variety that highlighted each woman’s individual style. “I think that was the most beautiful part of all of the pictures! All of the different dresses really showed how beautiful my friends are — inside and out,” said Eve.
Continuing to make the day their own, Eve & Pat read important passages from their favorite books during their ceremony (another Harry Potter sighting) and Thomas Huffington, a family friend served as the officiant. At each turn, tradition and formality was overshadowed by personal connection and individuality.
The 60 guests enjoyed a traditional Southern barbecue buffet and open bar, and don’t forget about the Krispy Kreme donut tower for dessert! Island Sound provided the soundtrack for a dance party that continued well into the night. When the reception ended, guests grabbed their personalized beer coozie favors and took the celebration to the lively streets of Savannah.
As Eve & Pat begin their new life together as husband & wife, Eve has only one bit of advice for brides, “Do whatever you want. If you want to wear a bikini — wear a damn bikini!”
