Ocean Course Wedding
Kiawah Island, South Carolina
From the bride: We were originally supposed to get married in Laguna Beach, CA., but due to COVID we moved the location within driving distance from our home in Charlotte, NC. As my husband and I fell in love at my family beach home in North Carolina, we had our heart set on a wedding at the coast. Our goal was to find a beach resort where our guests felt like they were on vacation with a big party at the end - our wedding! I had never been to Kiawah, but after seeing the view from the Ocean Course, I knew this was the spot. The wedding weekend was filled with picnic sunsets on the beach, bike rides, golf, fishing, and pool days with our family. The night before the wedding we hosted a cocktail party at the Sanctuary Hotel. The weather on Sunday was absolutely glorious. With the waves crashing in the background and my handsome groom waiting at the flower-covered cross, my father walked me down the aisle. We both teared up and laughed that we didn't think this day would come :) It was quite a windy day and my veil actually flew off before I started walking down the aisle. Fortunately, one of the ladies eating at the Atlantic Room rushed out & secured my veil. She truly was the hero of the day! The rest of the evening was filled with dancing (Brad and me to "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys, me and my Dad to "Sweet Caroline." My eyes filled with tears as the our family surrounded us singing "Bones" by Miranda Morris with the sun setting over the Lowcountry.
