We always love to see when a couple pours their heart and soul into their wedding planning and that's just what Karen & Chris did and, boy does it show! The couple were married at Magnolia Plantation on October 23, 2014 and with the help of ELM Events were able to design a memorable (and beautiful!) Charlseton wedding day! Karen put her DIY skills to work to create pin-worthy rustic details woven throughout their reception decor. We're obsessing over Karen's gorgeous Watters gown from Fabulous Frocks, the pink bridesmaids dresses from Bill Levkoff, that bouquet by The Flower Cottage and the simple cake from Ashley Bakery. Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing all the details!
From the Bride: "For Our wedding we wanted a small intimate gathering and for us the scenery was most important to us. So when we went to see Magnolia we knew instantly that this was the place for us with the beautiful Spanish moss hanging from the trees to the adorable carriage house that gave off that barn rustic feel. We fell in love.
I did a lot of DIY stuff for the wedding. I made the "MR. & MRS" wreaths by buying heart wreaths at Michaels Arts & crafts and pink silk flowers. I then got wooden letters and painted them pink and then worked it all together and added some burlap and lace they came out Beautiful! it was probably my most favorite part of the wedding, I also made the programs myself and gave it that mason jar feel sticking to the rustic chic theme I was going for. I had this idea for the favors and since we had a destination wedding in Charleston all our guest would be coming from out of town so I made little burlap and lace pouches and put good old Charleston grits in them with a recipe attached to a heart tag on how to make shrimp and grits.
The other Favor I had was mine and Chris's favorite pictures of places around Charleston. I took photos of these places and the put them in little frames and had a stamp made with "Chris & Karen Brucker October 23,2014" and I bought pink ink and stamped it on each and every frame and put them in little clear protectors to give it a more professional and chic look. They were a huge hit! for the Table seating I had a bird cage and little bird magnets with our wedding colors pink and ivory. That was cheap and easy and looked great! to add a little touch to each table I added "welcome bags" because most people were out of town and were staying in all different places so my wedding was centralized and it added a nice touch to the tables. the bags were brown like burlap and I had pink and ivory tissue paper an di had these amazing stickers made on ETSY with Charleston in the background and "Karen & Chris, Welcome to Charleston October 23, 2014" It added such a little touch but it was so adorable.
The Flowers can speak for themselves The flower cottage has been in business for 30 years and they did such a fabulous job in listening to what I wanted for my special day. the flowers were gorgeous!!! The Cake and cupcakes made by Ashley's bakery were so delicious and such a huge hit I wanted It to be simple and pretty. I bought Burlap colored cupcake holders and a lace surrounding with little "I do" tags to add some detail to the cupcakes and for the cake dressed it up with some fresh flowers and a willow tree cake topper to go with the wedding theme. For the outside seating area the isles had mason jars with beautiful flowers and I came up with an idea that saved me hundreds of dollars. I used the ceremony flowers and reused them in the reception area as well. Luckily I had a great family that helped transport them from the ceremony to inside :). I was obsessed with the chandlier hanging above us as we got married it added such an elegant touch. For my dress I Got it from Fabulous Frocks in Charleston while on vacation a year before the wedding and it was exactly what I was looking for. simple yet elegant. I had two different sashes one I wore for the ceremony it was white pearls and beading and I got that from David's Bridal and the other was a beautiful Blush color with a flower and feather and beautiful beading and that was purchased off of ETSY. I really wanted to make sure I Displayed how much I Loved Charleston throughout my wedding in every aspect event the bridesmaids Jewelry as well as most of mine was purchased in Downtown Charleston."
