We've had a fun and busy week over here at ALW! We're prepping for vacation next week (yay!), some much needed re-branding and tweaks to our site, as well as gearing up for some big new over the next few weeks, all while continuing to deliver your daily dose of Lowcountry wedding inspiration. Earlier this week, we shared all about The Bride's Maids Shop, our favorite must-stop shop for Brides on the hunt for the perfect Bridesmaids gift, a elegant Rice Mill Wedding from Dana Cubbage Weddings and an effortless Holy City engagement session from Sea Star Arts Photography. But as we round out the week, we're excited to finish things off with a lovely Charleston wedding at the Spoleto Festival USA headquarters in the heart of Downtown captured by the talented team at Karson Photography. The couple, Helen + Glenn, started their magical afternoon with a traditional ceremony before heading to George Street to celebrate the night away! We're loving their cheery color palette of bright blues and pops of red!
About Helen + Glenn: "We met while volunteering at the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival. The first date was five days later, and we had so much chemistry we kept delaying the end of the evening and ending up having a 6 hour date complete with sushi, swing dancing, dessert and coffee. After dating for three years I knew the day was coming, but wasn't sure when. I awoke on that Saturday morning to a text from Glenn telling me he was coming to my apartment and that I should make coffee. I wanted to sleep in, but he was persistent and kept telling me to wake up and make coffee. When I got to my coffee maker I saw an envelope full of 25 cards and 25 reasons why he loved me; I knew then that the proposal was coming, but wasn't sure when it would happen. The rest of the day was full of suspense; we ran errands to places that would be picturesque proposals, but no...I received another envelope of cards over lunch and was "sure" he would propose then, only to have him say he was going to leave and run errands but that I should dress up for dinner. After consulting my girlfriends on what to wear in case I get proposed to (and confirming that I should paint my nails just in case), Glenn arrived back at my apartment that evening dressed to the nines. We then went to the city market, near where his family owns a jewelry store (Gold Creations), and he surprised me with a horse drawn carriage! While on the carriage ride I got to open ANOTHER set of cards of reasons why he loved me (bringing the total to 100), and then we got out at Marion Square and he proposed under the Christmas tree in Marion Square (where we met 3 years prior). From there we had the most delightful dinner at McCrady's letting it all soak in an planning the rest of our lives together. After dinner, we face-timed with my parents (the wonders of iPhone technology) to tell them the good news and finished off the evening with Glenn's last surprise when we got back in the car - a wedding magazine to start our planning!"
