Veronika and Siavash
Lowndes Grove Wedding
Charleston, South Carolina
While we always love seeing the show-stopping details Lowcountry wedding vendors churn out, surprisingly, it’s not our favorite part of a wedding. Our favorite part is how the bide and groom are able to blend their two families and their backgrounds and traditions into a meaningful celebration for all to see. Veronika & Saivash traveled to Charleston from the West Coast where they tapped Ooh! Events to plan a multicultural bash at Lowndes Grove sprinkled with Persian traditions.
Your favorite part of the day? Did anything funny happen?
Our wedding was personal and we really enjoyed planning it! Ooh Events and its sister companies were a tremendous resource for finding unique items and services to truly customize our wedding day. We deliberately included fun elements for our own amusement and our guests’. Therefore, many of our favorite parts of the day were watching our plans unveil and surprise our guests. We loved watching our family and friends walking onto the property be greeted by giant 10 foot long colorful bubbles soaring through the air. There is something pure and joyful about watching bubbles that inspires a childlike happiness. We are happy we found our master “bubbleologist” Steve Langley who incidentally is a Guinness World Record holder!
We also played a small trick on our guests who were wondering why the groom was not standing at the front awaiting his bride. After the family procession ended and the groom was still missing, a dramatic pause and crescendo violin music followed. Then, Siavash rode in on “Roger” (our museum quality vintage Bentley race car from Low Country Valet) bidding everyone a hello with his top hat and handsome smile.
Lastly, a funny surprise was a sly move by Veronika who colluded with Doug Farmer (our officiant). While Siavash never found the privacy or time to write his vows the morning of the wedding as things kept rolling, he was thrust onto the scene having to improvise and speak off the cuff and from the heart. Meanwhile, Veronika pulled out her written vows from Doug’s notebook and started laughing at Siavash’s surprised face! Although Siavash wishes he could have prepared better for the moment, Veronika vehemently claims she loved hearing his heartfelt words all on the fly. She thinks it was a very special moment for her and all our guests; his words were raw, sweet and beautifully romantic.
