From the photographer: “In April 2004, Catherine attended a pre-medical conference in New Orleans, sponsored by her college. David, a second year medical student at the time, caught glimpse of her standing in the lobby. Later that evening, they went for a walk on Bourbon Street, and David showed her around his college town. Being from different states and at different points in their lives, they never anticipated that they would be anything more than pen pals. To the contrary, they quickly found themselves attracted to each other and remained in touch over the ensuing years, making bi-coastal trips to meet up.
As David moved on from medical school in South Carolina to pursue Orthopaedic Surgery training in New York City, and Catherine pursued graduate studies in Nursing in Los Angeles, they continued to grow closer as their lives paralleled each other despite the distance between them. They visited each other when they could, and were patient even during the roughest of times which long distance inevitably brings!
Finally, after years of being apart and navigating each of their circuitous journeys, Catherine & David were able to be together when Catherine moved to the East Coast. The rest is history...
One would say there is a certain je ne sais quoi to their relationship. Those closest to them can tell you that there has always been a common intertwining thread connecting both of their lives that is undeniable. More than just a story-it's more of a love 'novel' that has been filled with many beautiful chapters that are the prelude to the rest of their lives.”
