Blake Baumbach (formerly Bush) is a Wedding Planner at one of Charleston’s premier event planning companies, Pure Luxe Bride. Since she plans bridal events for a living, she had big plans for her own wedding weekend! The celebration had a romantic feel with lots of candlelight and jewel tone hues to compliment the venue and the fall season.
The pair chose one of Charleston’s finest new venues, Merchants Hall, for their rehearsal dinner. “When we first saw Merchants Hall, we fell in love with its location, exposed brick, and gorgeous crystal chandeliers. We instantly knew it was the perfect venue to host our rehearsal dinner!”
They always knew they wanted a small intimate wedding, so the goal was to include everyone in the welcome party the night before in order to spend as much time as possible with all of their guests. Since their wedding day menu was a more traditional seated dinner, they opted for stations the night before with a southern flare composed of local ingredients and perfect style of meal for mingling.
“A lot of our guests were traveling from the northeast,” says Blake, “So we couldn't wait for them to start the festivities by tasting fried chicken, green beans, and mac and cheese prepared by Salthouse Catering!”
“The groom has had a love for hot sauce since he was a child, so we thought it would be fun to surprise him with a groom’s cake of his favorite hot sauce, and of course it goes with all of our southern-style dishes,” says Blake. “Darby Events’ DJ and piano combo had everyone dancing and it was the best way to kick off the wedding weekend!”
