On A Limb Floral Studio
Heidi Inabinet, owner and florist (we like to call her a floral whisperer!) of On A Limb Floral Studio, has always had a passion and eye for effortlessly designing dreamy floral creations. Her studio is based in Charleston, SC where she works side-by-side with brides and planners to create bouquets, arrangements, and installations that range from loose and carefree to lush and abundant and we love them all! Check out what Heidi had to say when we chatted with her about all things flowers.
Describe your style - I have a bloom forward style that focuses on flowers over greenery and tends to be symmetrically-balanced vs. symmetrical. I generally work in muted tones and veer away from righteous color, “shades of white” is ever classic!
What should couples keep in mind when planning their florals? Things go awry in nature and our world all the time, so make sure you’re able to keep things in perspective and don’t take your flowers too seriously. If something happens and your “favorite” bloom is missing, don’t allow that to derail the joy of your day.
Favorite current wedding trend? Florists have seen a resurgence in recent years and its wonderful to see flowers being celebrated and used in unique and amazing ways.
Favorite ways to personalize a wedding? Find meaningful ways to highlight certain florals, things that perhaps guests are unaware of, but that have meaning to the couple and their families.
Favorite Lowcountry venue? That’s like choosing your favorite child! Ha! We have so many wonderful venues in our area, each with its own quirky personality. It’s a privilege to work at all of them.
What do you love most about being a florist? Budding Blooming Waning. Flowers celebrate ALL aspects of life.
Best way to achieve a cohesive vibe throughout your wedding?
1.) EDIT EDIT EDIT! Create a vision board and stay true to it.
2.) Choosing a wedding planner whose style inspires you is key.
3.) Staying true to the venue you’ve chosen, i.e. don’t try to turn a ballroom into a barn wedding and vice-vers
Favorite floral details every bride should consider splurging on that will have big impact on her wedding day? A WOW floral statement will have more impact than flowers on every cocktail table.
What are your favorite blooms to include in a bride’s bouquet? I have no favorite per se, but I do like to incorporate movement, color variance as in "shades of" and blooms with fragrance whenever possible.
Favorite Lowcountry ceremony spot? While I love an outdoor wedding, the Lowcountry has beautiful churches with AMAZING ceilings. And while they’re all beautiful, The Unitarian Church is my favorite. The ceiling makes me swoon every time.
Most unique way you've incorporated florals into a wedding? I had a bride whose grandfather had passed away. His celebration of life was a few days following the wedding. We re-purposed all of her wedding blooms in a meaningful memorial for their family celebration and it was really special.
