Alexis & Jason were married in a beautiful Spring wedding at Middleton Place but it was in New Orleans, LA where their love story first started. Jason was living in New York City at the time, and Alexis in Charlotte, when the two convened in The Big Easy to collaborate on a work project. "He says he knew he would marry me from the first moment he saw me," remembers Alexis. "But the food, wine and charm of the French Quarter and Garden District certainly helped." After their stint in the bayou, Alexis was able to bring Jason to Charleston, South Carolina for a special New Years Eve trip to the Lowcountry. Since it was his first time in the Holy City, she gave him a thorough tour of all of her favorite places, including Middleton Place. "We were quietly thinking to ourselves that it would be such a magical place to tie the knot," admits Alexis, and on May 21, 2016, they did just that. While the forecast called for 100% chance of rain two days prior to the festivities, the skies parted and the sun came out for a warm Spring day. Guests flocked to Middleton Place from all over the world to share in their heartfelt union. Hoping to showcase their backgrounds and relationships, they tapped the team at Engaging Events with merging the two together into a truly one-of-a-kind design. Their formal ceremony took place in the Octagonal Garden overlooking the Ashley River where Alexis and her father arrived via horse and carriage. After becoming Mr. & Mrs., guests were ushered to the Stableyards for cocktail hour where they were excited to see horses and peacocks milling about. The couple wanted to highlight their childhoods - she grew up and Charlotte and Jason overseas - and thought, what better way to accomplish the task by representing different locations through food! The dinner menu included everything from fried chicken and cornbread to sushi and shrimp po boys - and not a soul left hungry! Looking back on their fabulous Charleston wedding, Alexis has only the fondest of memories. "We owe Cindy and her team a big thank you for her meticulous attention to detail, fabulous ideas, and excellent overall experience," she recalls. "Our wedding was spectacular and our guests continue to talk about how "magical" it was!" And we are so thankful to amelia + dan photography for capturing all the elegant details.
