PAIGE + TYLER
PINE LAKES COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
June 11, 2016
Tell us how you met: We met on a double date that a mutual couple set up. I guess it was technically a blind date since we had never met. Our first date was on a Tuesday and we went out again that Friday. The rest was history!
Proposal Details: Our Proposal was in Costa Rica on a family vacation in August of 2014. Tyler and I went on the beach early in the morning on August 4th, coffee in hand, to get an early morning walk that turned into him getting down on one knee. It was so special and intimate with just us both there in the beautiful scenery. Costa Rica will always be such a special place in both of our hearts.
The Gown & Accessories: The gown was a Justin Alexander Signature dress in cream with an oyster under layer. The elegant Venice lace fit and flare sweetheart neckline came with a lace Sabrina neckline and cap sleeve bolero jacket. Satin buttons run down the back zipper and through the chapel length train. The accessories that I wore were Kate Spade from Nordstrom. Earrings and a tri-strand pearl bracelet that matched completed the look. My something old was my great-grandmother’s cameo that my mother has kept for many years. My something new was my dress, and my something borrowed was my mother’s ring that my Dad had given her for their 20th wedding anniversary. And last, my something blue was my blue ribbon garter.
The Hair + Makeup: Lauren Porter and her girls at Salon Envy did a fabulous job getting everyone ready for our day. My hair was in a low up-do with soft pinned curls at the nape of my neck. I wanted everyone’s hair up since it was June and the heat of the day can be a bit much. Our make-up was so pretty! We went with a neutral/pink color palate with a little bit of glam and drama for the eyes.
Personal Touches: The signage found throughout the wedding was hand made by the bride’s mother and mimicked the calligraphy on the wedding invitations.
The Invitations + Paper Details: Printed by Reaves Engraving, the Invitations were off white with gold foil letterpress and matching frame.
Groom + Groomsmen Attire: The Groomsmen wore Navy Blue tuxedos from Men’s Waearhouse along with light blue gingham bow-tie’s and cummerbunds that Tyler gifted his groomsmen. The accessories had their “Man-o-gram” on the side of the cummerbund in gold which matched our theme.
Bridesmaids Attire: The Bridesmaids wore a knee length strapless dress made of light blue dupioni silk. Their shoes were of their choice in a nude, patent heel. I gifted them their pearl bracelets that they wore for the ceremony. Just classic!
Guest Count: 175
The Favors: Photo booth pictures with Magnets served as our favors for the night. How fun!
What Lowcountry elements did you incorporate into your big day? Incorporating family heirlooms really was a theme throughout our wedding day. From my something borrowed, to Tyler’s lucky coin, we made sure our families traditions were represented on our day.
Ceremony Site + Personal Details: The ceremony was held at Pine Lakes Country Club in the back yard in front of the Garden. The guests were greeted at the door and offered Sweet Tea before they were seated. My step father walked me down the brick aisle. Tyler and I participated in communion during the ceremony and the chalice was a family heirloom that my mother and sister had also used during their weddings as well.
Aesthetic + Color Palette: The aesthetic of the wedding would be classified as a Timeless Southern affair with coastal influences since it was held in Myrtle beach. The colors used were mainly blush and gold with light blue hues throughout.
The Décor: Gold Chavari chairs surrounded round blush tables with table scapes that mimicked the bride’s bouquet. Gold mercury glass sprinkled each table with various candles to light up the unique flowers.
How did you select your venue: We were looking for a true southern ambiance for our wedding and wanted an outdoor/indoor venue that would afford our guests some variety during the event. The beautiful outdoor lawn and garden were perfect along with the delicate moldings that encase the inside of Pine Lakes Country Club. The back porch looks like it is straight out of Gone with the Wind, which is what every true Southern Belle loves. Pine Lakes is a timeless location for a Low Country affair.
What were the most important elements about your wedding day to you and your husband? The most important elements definitely had to do with incorporating our family and heirlooms that were passed down to us. Tyler carried a special coin that his Uncle had given him the night before at our rehearsal dinner as a good luck token for our day. His family would gift each man at the time of their wedding with a special coin as a good luck for the next day and their marriage to come. Another important element included our first look to one another. We really wanted to be relaxed at the alter so, we decided to get our first look jitters by spending some quality time together before the ceremony. It was definitely worth it.
The Flowers: Her bouquet featured a fragrant gathering of premium blooms. The assortment ranged from feathery flowers, like Peonies and Sweet Peas, to button blooms, like Ranunculus. The floral designers hand-selected garden roses and textural elements, like Astilbe to enhance the lush layers of depth and dimension in her design. To balance the soft feeling of the florals, hand-cut greenery and Dusty Miller was incorporated and placed throughout. To complete this cream and blush design, the stems were bound in soft streaming silk ribbons. The bridesmaids had a similar, but smaller bouquet. The flowers greeting guests in the foyer and on the tables were of the same nature, but bigger.
The Food + Beverage: Immediately following the ceremony the guest had a cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres like chicken salad tartlets, pimento cheese crostini, and mini crab cakes. The main dishes were a shrimp and grits bar, veggie station, and pasta station including an array of toppings.
The Cake and Sweets: A 4 tier cake with unique layers to replicate the crochet lace on the brides dress was designed by Croissants Bakery. Lemon and Raspberry were the flavors in the different layers with butter cream icing.
Best Piece of Advice for Brides-to-be: Always stay true to your vision for your day and have fun with it! This is your special day so relax, take a deep breath, and soak it all in!
