You know I love when I get to take my ALW faithful for a little day trip down to my home state of Georgia, especially when we make a beeline right for the magical Sea Island. With Events by Caroline behind the wedding wheel, Catherine + Josh tied the knot in elegant, outdoor ceremony overlooking the water, in what appears to be a Lowcountry afternoon that most gals dream of. To celebrate, the couple joined their wedding guests for a tented evening under the stars where the gals at Garden on the Square created superbly Southern floral arrangements of hydrangeas and baby’s breath to grace the tabletops. With a welcoming ocean breeze, Guest relaxed in a lovely outdoor lounge area and dined on a feast of Southern cuisine, including roasted quail, before kicking off their shoes and hopping on the dance floor to enjoy the sounds of The Swinging Medallions. Thanks to the wonderful Donna Von Bruening for capturing this swoon-worthy Sea Island Wedding! Oh, and yes, that is a real fish cake!
Oh, Sally Watts! The magic you make with a veil just makes my heart skip-a-beat. I guess it’s that wonderful combination of an awesome Charleston wedding photographer, a gorgeous bride and killer natural light that has me swooning over this breathtaking Southern wedding. Not to mention, the entire Daniel Island affair was planned and designed by the fabulous Megan of Mingle! It’s a combination of talent that is bound to deliver oohs and ahhs every single time! Amanda + Jay were blessed with a beautiful Lowcountry day where they wed along the marsh (heaven!) in front of their family and friends. The bridesmaids were dressed in floor-length navy gowns while the men looked handsome in classic black tuxedos. The festivities continued at the Pierce Park Pavilion where guests were treated to a seated dinner from Good Food Catering (don’t those Shrimp and Grits look amazing!?), an array of desserts and a celebration that last way after the sun went down! We’re in love with the effortless décor, pops shimmering gold and perfect evening lighting.
Y’all, I am so thrilled to tell you guys we’re just weeks away from launching our first EVER A Lowcountry Wedding Lookbook….and it is awesome. It’s been a complete labor of love and while it’s taken a little longer to finish up than expected, it has been so much fun to create, super crazy and difficult, and, at times, has made me want to throw in the towel, but it’s finally in the last stages and I can’t wait until we get to share it. There are pages and pages of AMAZING Lowcountry weddings from the most-sought after vendors along the Carolina coast and it will have you ooohhhhing and aaahhhing the whole way through! In the meantime, we thought we would hold you over with this beauty from the Capitol City captured by Richard Ellis Photography at 701 Whaley. We’re in love with all of these beautiful pops of purple!
I went to the University of Georgia, so I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for the color red (actually, I’m obsessed.). It’s such a sassy color and, at times, it can be difficult to properly integrate into your wedding color palette, but I’ll tell you what, Bride Mandy nailed it as she gave it a chic, Lowcountry flair! Mandy looked STUNNING in a fitted mermaid gown, while her gals rocked fabulous, one-shoulder red dresses. The couple wed on lawn of the Daniel Island Club before enjoying a lovely evening with family and friends. Thanks to Bri McDaniel Photography for capturing this amazing Charleston wedding!
It’s Friday and I get to present and awesome contest to all of our loyal ALW readers and that always makes me smile! But now I want to make you smile. In honor of her brand new website, we’ve teamed up with our friend and Charleston wedding photographer, Mackenzie of The Click Chick Photography, for a big ol’ giveaway that we’re positive will have you grinning from ear-to-ear. The best part is it combines two of our favorite things…a free wedding photography package and Pinterest. My kind of heaven!
And let’s be serious, who doesn’t want their wedding captured by an awesome photographer and then featured on A Lowcountry Wedding! Excited?! I knew you would be! Now, for the rules…
Not to be weird or anything, but I’m kind of obsessed with today’s Bride Christina. Not only is she stunningly beautiful, but throughout her entire wedding, she has such a gorgeous glow! Christina rocked one-heck-of-a-gown with a fabulous skirt and a sweet birdcage veil, while Rico donned a stylish white tuxedo. The duo tied the knot in front of friends and family at Morris Brown AME Church before heading over to Founders Hall for a lively celebration. Thanks to Peter Miller Photography for capturing this lovely Charleston wedding!
