Crown Royal Maple Finished

My husband and I recently headed to Social Wine Bar for the Crown Royal Maple Whisky tasting and we were both immediately hooked!  As a gal who tends to enjoy her wine (who am I kidding, I love my wine), I was pleasantly surprised by the taste.  Being from the Crown Royal family, I naturally knew it would go down smooth but the sweet maple flavor gives it a cozy feeling that makes you keep wanting more.  All I could keep thinking was, ‘This will be the perfect addition to next year’s tailgating must-haves!’  Brian, my husband, is completely and utterly in love.  The first thing he asks when we stop into one of the many local watering holes around town is, ‘Do you have Crown Royal Maple?’  We’ve only run across it at one other establishment but if I know my husband, he’ll have it all over the city in no time!  So keep your eye out as it slowly takes over the Lowcountry!

So, why am I sharing this on A Lowcountry Wedding you might ask?  Well, to put it simply, Crown Royal Maple makes the perfect signature drink for your upcoming Southern bash…and boy do I mean perfect!  It’s no secret most of ladies do love something to sip on something a little girly but I think you’ll quickly fall in love with these two recipes that will be a huge hit with the guys and gals on your guest list!

For your President’s Day reading pleasure, we’ve got a stunning, Lowcountry affair from the team at Ooh! Events who, when joined by Riverland Studios, can do no wrong!  The day’s festivities kicked off with a traditional ceremony at St. John the Baptist which was capped off Citadel-style by sword-bearing cadets.  After, the bridal party jumped in a classic trolley provided by Absolutely Charleston to pose for some gorgeous images on the College of Charleston campus.  The newlyweds then joined their guests at the beautiful Dunes West Golf Club for an outdoor evening on the lawn complete with a cigar bar from Cigar Row!

Cypress Tree Plantation {Roxana + Joshua}

You know I love me some cotton.  Actually this week has been full of fun cotton details, remember Erin’s Charleston wedding at Boone Hall Plantation?!  It was chock full of cotton and burlap loveliness!  Well today we’ve got another cotton beauty to share with you and this one has quite the tale to go with it.   Roxana + Joshua married in the Lowcountry this past fall on the enchanting Edisto Island at Cypress Trees Plantation.  But that’s not all.  With friends and family literally all across the globe, the couple decided it was necessary to have two separate celebrations, not just one Edisto Island but also Lima, Peru!  But the REAL kicker…they planned both destination weddings from Angola and from the looks of it, they went off without a hitch!  Thanks to Josh for filling us in on how they managed to pull off their whirlwind, International wedding celebrations!

“A project management challenge, that’s the way I would sum it up!  I joked with Roxana during the lead up to the wedding that we should add a line on project management to our resumes but that it might not be well relieved by potential employers.
Practically though, our families helped out a tremendous amount doing scouting runs for us and providing various levels of support. We did a lot of research online and then spent a years worth of vacation traveling to the US and Peru from Angola to visit venues, interview vendors and got all the major details underway.  From that point on, once we had the major contractors secured we just kept ourselves organized through spreadsheets and notebooks and lists.  We didn’t go into the millions of details that are possible to get so wrapped up in and bogged down by, we tried to keep ourselves sane by keeping the details right, but at the right level also.
Roxana headed to Peru two and a half weeks prior to the wedding there and we were in the US about 10 days before the wedding at Edisto.  Last minute arrangements were done once we got on site.  My folks and family were a tremendous help in the US organizing and pulling together most of the materials that we were not able to sort out during our previous trips.  Then we just went and made it happen.
The happiest thing of all is that we were able to stay relatively sane throughout both and actually enjoy them!  It would have been easy to get too carried away but somehow we managed to really have a lot of run and roll with the punches that came.  I think all in all what it came down to for us was supportive families who helped a lot and good organization on our side that came together to make both events a success.”

There’s something about a tented wedding reception that just screams Southern….throw a statuesque Plantation into the mix and you’ve got the perfect Charleston affair!  This classic stunner took place Downtown at The Wickliffe House where Jennifer Stuart Photography was on hand to capture all the gorgeous details.  The couple went with a timeless color palette that had the bridesmaids dressed in gold and the men in navy and tan.  The reception was laced with Carolina details including fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and a palmetto stamped cornhole game!

Cotton Dock Wedding {Erin + Jason}

You can’t go wrong with a Boone Hall Plantation wedding.  The entire Plantation is simply majestic and who could ever complain about a Lowcountry evening on the water at the Cotton Dock!? Not this girl!  Collette Mruk Photography sent over Erin + Jason’s magical Charleston wedding and with every image the dreaminess just kept coming.  Shannon McLeod handled the design and coordination by keeping with the rustic beauty of the venue, and with the help of OK Florist, the duo added in sweet touches of Fall.  As usual, that wonderful team at Cru Catering delivered a delicious menu of Lowcontry cuisine while Jay Maxwell kept the guest dancing late into the evening!

Amy-Marie Kay Photography had me at ‘Red Velvet Whoopie Pies’…and I have a feeling she’s got you too!  One glance of those bad boys and I knew that this Charleston wedding had to grace the pages of A Lowcountry Wedding!  Truth be told, the Whoopie Pies weren’t even the best part!  The adorable couple, perfect photography and indescribable setting makes this one for the books.  This gorgeous Fall fete took place at the charming Old Wide Awake Plantation where guests were welcomed to an intimate, outdoor ceremony on the steps before celebrating the night away under the Lowcountry stars!

Southern Engagement {Emma + Eric}

It’s always kinda weird to write a post when it involves people you know, which is why I’ve been trying to write this one up for the past few weeks.  You want to make sure the images are arranged just perfectly and all the words sum up just how excited you are for the twosome…so stressful!  Emma’s my adorable little sister who also serves as a Grammar Nazi when it comes to A Lowcountry Wedding :)   Her and her fiance Eric are tying the knot in Atlanta this coming October and while they might not be getting hitched in the Lowcountry, their rustic engagement session from Katy Albano Photography is just too awesome not to share!  Partially because they even invited their wonky-eared pup, Henna Mae.  So happy for you two and can’t wait for your big ol’ Catholic ceremony!
