Rice Mill Wedding {Jennifer + Adam}

I’ll be honest, before I even opened the images from Jennifer + Adam’s wedding, I knew I was going to love it.  How can you not when the talented Katherine Miller Events is driving the ship?!  But as I started skimming through the details, I knew I was officially head-over-heels…and it didn’t hurt the entire celebration took place at the Historic Rice Mill Building overlooking the beautiful Charleston Harbor.  Branch Design Studio created soft bouquets and floral arrangement that included a mix of dahlias, succulents, peonies and dusty miller to achieve an effortlessly romantic look.  Thanks to Good Food Catering, their guests dined on a plethora of delicious hors d’oeuvres that highlighted the bride’s Mexican heritage.  A Paella and COAST Taco Station topped off an already amazing menu!  Thanks to Charlotte Elizabeth Photographer for capturing this memorable Lowcountry Wedding!

You all know I love a timeless bridal session shot in the Holy City.  The utterly Southern city is dripping with historical homes, cobblestone paths and gorgeous architecture that you just can’t find anywhere else.   Throw in a beautiful bride and you’ve got true Lowcountry perfection.  Blushing Bride Whitney stunned in a classic lace gown that she accessorized with a vibrant bouquet and I just can’t get enough of it!  As usual, Charleston wedding vendor, Carmen Ash Photography captured another memorable afternoon!

A Lowcountry Wedding is SUPER excited to announce our favorite wedding vendors is heading to town later this month!.  Ms. Lindsay, of Wined & Designed, is gracing the Lowcountry with her presence in a fabulous Wedding Stationery Trunk Show March 25-29th, and I can assure you this is one you don’t want to miss. Much like a traditional wedding gown trunk show, Lindsay offers brides a unique opportunity to sit down an talk serious details as she tailors your wedding day stationery into a fabulous and personalized finished product! So, in honor of the upcoming Stationery Trunk Show, we asked adorable Lindsay a few, quick questions to get to know here a little better…
.
.
Tell us all about Lindsay…
I am a pretty spirited little lady with an insatiable appetite for life and design. I was raised as a Navy Brat along with my 3 older brothers, moving back and forth across the country practically every 2 years. The varying landscapes provided endless inspiration and developed my zest for travel & experiencing culture. My parents say they knew ages ago that this career path was for me because they couldn’t keep my original artwork off of the walls of every military house we lived in.
.
Right now I reside in Bermuda,  where I am lucky enough to be surrounded by beauty and am constantly inspired by the endless piercing sunsets, changing tides and pink sandy beaches. Come visit!

.
Give us one crazy fun fact we wouldn’t know about you…
.-Fun or FUNNY fact? How about funny? When I was little, my dream was to be a model, as in tall (I’m barely 5’7″), leggy, beautiful and photographed for a living…and I SERIOUSLY thought that’s what I was going to be-I may have even prayed for it! You can imagine how funny my brothers thought it was, especially considering I was a pretty chubby little kid!

.
Give us a little background on how Wined & Designed came to life…
-My love affair with paper, crafts and art began when I was very small, coloring on the walls of every military owned house we lived in. I am a trained graphic designer (BFA in Graphic Design from University of Florida, MA in Motion Media from SCAD) and I LOVE branding, so in 2005, when my oldest brother got married, it was my duty to create the rehearsal dinner invitations. Man, did that ever spark something! As a poor student, I continued to offer my design services to friends who were getting married. I started to see the parallels of branding a company and branding an event, only the event aspect (particularly something so personal as a wedding) was much more special to me. The relationships that are harvested throughout the process of designing wedding stationery—something so personal—are unlike any other. There is great pleasure in being able to listen to brides/couples and in being invited to share in their stories. It is these relationships, after all, that inspire the finished products, and there is no cooler aspect to a completed stationery suite than knowing that the textures, colors, fonts, illustrations, paper weights, and all of the bells & whistles were all selected to reflect individuals. It never gets old, I get so excited each time I start working with someone new!

.
What is the one tip you wish you could tell every bride?
-Relax and let the professionals (or anyone else!) do the work. I’ve never planned a wedding, but I know many, many people who have. Most, I find, who have planned on doing a lot of the work themselves end up running out of time or are stressed, etc. It’s your engagement…RELAXXXX!
.

.
How can a bride come prepared to her stationery appointment?
-Ohhhh, I get so anxious to meet the brides!! But before I do, there are a definitely a few housekeeping items to take care of:
I would say, consider any additional stationery items you may need (these may include: save-the-dates, invitations, events guides for guests, maps, programs, menus, escort cards, table numbers, favor tags, thank you notes, etc…)
.
lowcountry weddings.
Gather information! The idea is to make your experience easy, enjoyable and stress free. The more I know about a couple and their wedding vision, the better their experience & the more personal their invitations. Pull pictures from magazines/pinterest/google of anything that represents you!
.
If you have reserved an appointment, I probably sent you a workbook—Fill it out!
.

.
In three words, sum up your personal style…
-Only 3!!?! Hmmmm…
1. Eclectic
2. Casual
3. FUNNNNN
4. Big Hair…oh, sorry, that is 4.
.
southern wedding invitations
.
Favorite invitation you’ve ever designed and a little story about the creative process…
-Stop asking me hard questions! It honestly is very difficult because I get so attached to not just the finished product, but the wonderful couples I work with. Each stationery suite has a unique story to it.

If I HAD to pick one, I would say it’s the Art Deco Invitation Suite, and everything else that went along with it. It was a fully comprehensive package and it turned out so beautifully. The invitations themselves were completely letterpresses (by Cucumber Press–wonderful woman over there!) including the return addresses on the envelopes. There were so many small details, menus to drink station signs to the gorgeous, vintage style poster! The venue was The Carlyle Club in Alexandria, VA. It is a 1930′s NYC style supper club that is completely designed with Art Deco flare. There are patterns on the wall, the linens, EVERYWHERE. The paper goods just seemed like they fit so well. That was a true “branded” event.

.
What blogs provide you daily inspiration to keep your creative juices flowing (non-wedding related)…
-How much time do you have? Ha! I have so many blogs bookmarked. My mood kind of dictates where I look, and I try to change it up often to expose myself to different styles & personalities.
.
Some of my mainstays are:
.
COLOR. Everywhere! I love not only this brand and what it represents, but the blog covers so many different topics. It’s hard not to be in a great mood after scrolling through the pages. It is overwhelmingly cheery, and I love it!

Beautiful print pieces. Many fine art projects, small print run jobs, TLC pieces, lots and lots of letterpress! I’d just want to jump through the screen and pick up the projects! FPO should do a pop up gallery! OH! I like it–I’m going to write them!

.
What the most rewarding thing about your line of work?
-Hands down, if I’ve done my job right, seeing a bride’s face and her excitement when she opens up the package that has her assembled invitation suite! It’s priceless and it never gets old!
.

.
What do you love most about Lowcountry weddings?
The charm. Every Lowcountry wedding I see is like a fairy tale. There is no shortage of photo opportunity, from the shade of the Spanish Moss trees to the buckling wood of an old dock next to the river to the cotton fields. There is true romance, hospitality, and of course, wonderful family & friends surrounding!

Lynsey + Ryan currently reside in Hawaii but are heading back to the Holy City this Fall to say ‘I do’.  On a recent trip back to the East Coast, the adorable duo met up with the talented crew from Hyer Images to engage in a session for the record books!  Unbeknownst to them, they headed over to Boone Hall Plantation on the eve of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s Lowcountry wedding, and to say security was tight was an understatement!  But lucky for us, they were able to squeeze in a few dreamy images just for our pinning pleasure :)   Can’t wait for their big ol’ Charleston wedding!
