I know this is a totally biased comment, but I just can’t help but love a beautiful South Carolina wedding.   Lowcountry brides always do a swoon-worthy job of tying together their appreciation of friends and family with their timeless style and ability to have a good time.  Their weddings always make for a memorable Southern affair…and Kristen + Taylor’s classic Providence, South Carolina bash was no different!  Photographed by the one-and-only, Virgil Bunao, the couple treated guests to a gorgeous tented reception with an open bar, an amazing spread from Creative Catering and lively tunes from DJ Master G that kept the party going til the wee hours of the morning!

Whitney + Josh {Virginia Wedding}

This past July, darling bride Whitney and her maids arrived on the grounds of the Historic Whitehall Manor to prepare for her beautiful Southern Wedding shot by the talented Stephen Gosling Photography.   This 200 year old venue is located right at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Virginia and makes for a charming backdrop. On the steps of the picturesque Manor, Whitney + Josh exchanged vows in a sweet, touching ceremony in front of their dearest friends and family.  Whitney dazzled guests in a charming strapless gown that she paired with a classic strand of pearls and a gorgeous summer bouquet from Lavender Green English Floral Design while her ladies sported a shade of burgundy.  After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their bridal party posed for some gorgeous rustic portraits before joining their guest for toasting and dancing!

Winter Bouquets {Charleston Wedding Details}

Bouquet

First thing’s first, I have to say thank you for all the wonderfully sweet comments we’ve received about the new site.  I’m simply over-the-moon with the response.  It’s taken a lot of hard work for A Lowcountry Wedding to get to this point and I’m really excited about where it is headed!  We’re always thrilled to hear from vendors and brides, so don’t be afraid to reach out to us if we can be of any help at all in planning your Charleston, Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach wedding.

I had been planning on posting a sampling of my favorite Winter wedding bouquets for quite some time but the weather just wouldn’t cooperate with me.  I mean, it’s suppose to be almost 70 in Charleston tomorrow…it hasn’t felt like Winter once this season!  Regardless of the temperature, the season is still the same and for that reason alone, we’re paying homage to some beautiful wintry bouquets today that will hopefully give you loads of inspiration for your big day!  Some are full of dark, rich colors and others carry a more neutral palette but every single one will make you feel warm and cozy!

Rachel + David {Island House Wedding}

I can’t think of a better way to honor our new site than to kick off the week with a fabulous Lowcountry wedding from Richard Bell Photography…so, that’s just what I’m going to do!  Rachel + David said their ‘I do’s’ this past September in a beautiful waterfront ceremony at The Island House.  This spectacular Charleston wedding venue is located on the banks of the Stono River and provides a coastal breeze and the perfect backdrop for those looking for a little piece of Lowcountry heaven.

The couple enlisted a team of Charleston’s most-sought after vendors to execute their Big Day!  Rachel has always been a fan of scouring flea markets to find new treasures and with the help of the creative minds at Tiger Lily Weddings, they incorporated her passion into the wedding day decor.  Antique birdcages were used to hold their custom programs, an old wooden game box held well wishes from the guests and a timeless typewriter greeted guests as they arrived at the ceremony.   After their vows were exchanged, Mell Bell from Richard Bell Photography captured the couple in their first few moments together as husband and wife in the picturesque butterfly garden.  As the sun set on the island, the trees came alive with hanging lanterns that created a warm, cozy glow.  Cafe Catering treated guests to a fabulous spread of Lowcountry cuisine as they danced the night away in celebration of the adorable twosome!

I’m sure most of you guys thought this day would never come (and sometimes neither did I)!  But, it’s finally here!  Our brand, spanking new site has gone live and I couldn’t be happier.  It looks better than I could have ever imagined and it’s all thanks to a few truly talented individuals and I just have to sing their praises…

Charleston wedding blog logo

First up, Mrs. Emily Ley.   Emily is the creative mind behind A Lowcountry Wedding’s fabulous branding.  Emily hit it out of the park with the perfect color palette and spot-on logo and for that I have to give a HUGE, HUGE thank you!

Then, we have Sarah Kate Snyder, owner of Studio Snyder who, to put it mildly…nailed it.  Sarah Kate took our perfect branding and translated it into a killer new website.  It’s got that laid-back, Lowcountry ease we were missing before.   I’m so over-the-moon with how everything has turned out  that I just can’t say thank you enough!

I hope y’all love it as much as I do!  We appreciate everyone’s kind words and are excited about all the big surprises we have in store for you this year!  Don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS feed here.
